Report from Plastic Dreamer:
This game was spoilt by a strong wind. In the first half, Reading were playing into the wind but Spurs still did not manage to create too much. If anything, they seemed to be giving our players too much respect, which is a pleasant change. Their one chance in the first half was a header early on which Simon Cox saved brilliantly by diving to his left and turning it round the post. We didn't threaten their goal at all apart from a cross-cum-shot from the left wing which left the Tottenham keeper stranded and hit the bar.
In the second half, Spurs were more direct but lacked composure up front. They did however get a goal from a penalty after 65 minutes, following a foul. They also hit the bar and missed three good chances late on.
Reading's best player was the goalkeeper Cox.
