An extremely tragic incident took place as a result of this game. Peter Reeve, a Bristol City player, suffered an ankle injury, and was taken to the Royal Berks Hospital. One week later he went to Weston General Hospital for a check-up, where it was confirmed that the ankle was fractured. He then went home, but a few hours later he died of a blood clot despite being rushed back to the hospital by air ambulance.
www.1871.cx would like to extend our sympathy to his friends and relatives, and all involved with the Bristol City schoolboy Academy set-up who are having to come to terms with such an untimely loss.
