These games formed part of the Watford and London International Festival of Football, held annually at Parmiter's School in Watford. The Reading Under-13 team for the 2001/02 season took part in the section of the tournament described as "Pro Youth Under-12". The reason for the apparent discrepancy in ages is that the cut-off date for Academy football is 31st August, whilst this tournament took place in July.
There were ten teams, split into two groups of five. Matches were played over thirty minutes each way. Reading were in Group B. The final table was as follows:
| P | W | D | L | F | A | GD | Pts | |
| Watford | 4 | 4 | 0 | 0 | 8 | 2 | +6 | 12 |
| Norwich City | 4 | 3 | 0 | 1 | 11 | 6 | +5 | 9 |
| Queens Park Rangers | 4 | 1 | 0 | 3 | 6 | 7 | -1 | 3 |
| Reading | 4 | 1 | 0 | 3 | 4 | 5 | -1 | 3 |
| Luton Town | 4 | 0 | 0 | 4 | 1 | 10 | -9 | 0 |
Finally, Reading beat Millwall, the fourth placed team from the other group, in a play-off match. This means that in some sense we came seventh in the competition (out of ten teams).
There was a second day's play at this age group on Saturday, 28th July, but Reading did not take part in that.
