Match report:

By a guest reporter:

The game started brightly for Kevin Dillon's side with a couple of half-chances and a great save from the visitng keeper from a Joey Alcott header, but Wednesday were physically stronger than Reading and in the end this would determine the result.

A ball through the middle put Reading under pressure, two defenders were brushed aside and the striker cooly finished. Reading had quite a bit of posession but in the last quarter struggled to make an impression. Just before half-time it could have been two but Simon Cox saved a one-on-one.

After half time it was really more of the same - quite a bit of posession but no headway. To be fair Wednesday were strong. The second goal came after a free-kick conceded on the byline - the striker lost his marker to power home unchallenged. Wednesday could have increased their lead but Cox made a fine save to his right

This result can be put down to experience, and the youngsters can only benefit from the game.
