Match report:

By our Under-17 correspondent:

The Under-17s did quite well in the first half against Tottenham and should have been a goal up in the first two minutes but unfortunately Nathan Bailey put the ball over the bar from eight yards and the rest of the half saw Reading miss about four good chances.

The first 20 minutes was constant pressure from Reading and they had Spurs well contained until Spurs scored against the run of play. The second goal came just before half time and Reading went in having played well but still on the back end of a deficit.

The third goal came with just a few minutes of the second half gone and it looked for a while if Reading were ready to crumble but to their credit they composed themselves and started to get at Tottenham, and could at least have stolen a goal or two to make the score slightly more even.

Considering that Spurs are top of the league and had a full team of first year scholars out and a number of youth internationals available to them Reading did very well. There were some good performances from Reading and to be fair considering the age of the Reading team they deserve great credit. It bodes well for the future.
