Match report:

By a guest reporter:

Another tremendous performance from Reading - again 13 heroes.

Reading took some revenge from today's draw after their hammering at the hands of Tottenham pre-Christmas. The game was was marred by high winds and pretty ferocious tackling some of which was legal, but in the first half Reading were made to graft by an organised Spurs team and still managed to create chances. One, a well worked free kick, saw a Jason Awbery drive narrowly evade the angle of bar and post, then an Andre Boucaud effort made the keeper scurry.

At the other end good defensive work by all meant that Simon Cox had only one save to make, going to his right to hold a deflected drive.

Half-time - Tottenham Hotspur 0 Reading 0

The second half was a scrappy affair with Reading having to defend grimly at times, but as in the first half still managed to create chances. With five minutes left it seemed that all Reading's work would be to no avail as a ball played to the left-hand side of Reading's penalty area found its way to Henry who ran into the box with only Cox to beat. But the Reading keeper earned his corn standing big and saving to his left. The rebound was blocked by a combination of Cox and I think Ricky Allaway, and the final rebound was sent over the bar.

Final score - Tottenham Hotspur 0 Reading 0

Reading have turned in another good performance. Everybody again played well, Gary Middleton performed well but everyone played their part. Not only are Reading competing but they are organised and playing cultured football when possible. Brendan Rodgers is showing there is life after Kevin Dillon.
