Q: Name all the things that the referee takes onto the pitch
at the start of the game (excluding the clothes he's wearing!).
A: Pen, notebook, whistle, spare whistle, watch, spare watch, red
card, yellow card, coin for toss-up, match ball.
The one everyone misses out is the match ball. (Although if you read this question before 11th June 2001, you'll know that I managed to miss out the coin. Thanks to Tom Withey for putting me right. Also if you read it before 24th June 2003 you'll know that the answer didn't include spare whistle, but "ICONSIGNMF" told me that all referees would carry two.)
