This part of the website is of course dreadfully sexist, but it's only in keeping with the "modern tradition" of the Soccerette on Sky Sports' Soccer AM. I read somewhere that the word "babe" was now out of fashion - if there is some new super-cool description that we at 1871 have completely missed out on, then please let us know (because I can guarantee that we won't find out otherwise).
Our guest writer will, at the end of each month, bring you his winner. There's no prize because if you win this competition you're already a winner in the competition of life.
Oh, well. This month's winner was going to be the rather attractive young lady who generally sits a few rows in front of me in the East Stand. However, after she snubbed my attempts to start up a conversation after a recent home game, I've decided that the winner will again be Natalie Clark, mostly because www.footballshirts.com sent the webmaster a load more photos of her!
Natalie is due to appear at the MadStad during half-time at the Wycombe game on Saturday, 14th October.

This month is going to be different from usual because there is one woman who more than any other has entered the world of Reading FC fans during August.
Before we reveal (metaphorically speaking, of course) the winner, a "highly commended" goes to a young lady shopping in the Megastore before the Southampton game. She saw a pile of free newspapers and picked one up. On realising that it was egg-chasing propaganda, she uttered an exclamation of disgust and dropped it. On this website, we value brains as well as beauty.
Anyway, the winner for August has to be the model Natalie Clarke from footballshirts.com. She has taken the display of Reading FC replica kits to new heights, and been the subject of such meaningful messageboard threads as "Babe on official site" and "Fit bird in new kit". (Note that the model appearing at half-time in the Stoke game was not Natalie, although if you've visited this page before, you might notice that I was completely fooled by the swap.)
For those who wanted to know more about Natalie, she's 24 and has been a model since leaving school. She was the original Lara Croft in Tomb Raider (although she was then known as Natalie Cook - hopefully the name change is not because she got married!) and went on to become Lady Lucy Lottery in a certain Murdoch paper. I don't have either her address or phone number, and if I did I wouldn't tell you. But you can e-mail her here.
So congratulations to Natalie - Babe of the Month for August 2000.

And please, please, please do not expect a new gallery like this every month or you are going to be disappointed. It will almost certainly be back to normal service for September.
And finally, here's the Soccerette on the catwalk from Soccer AM on 29th January 2000 - the edition that featured Reading fans (none of whom I knew or even recognised!).
