Kingstonian are becoming regular opponents. There was a friendly match during the 1999/2000 season in which we beat them 2-1. I think it was a team of young Reading players, and I don't know what sort of side Kingstonian put out. Then we played and beat them in a pre-season friendly in the summer of 2000.
The main connection between the two clubs has to be David Leworthy. He only played for us for a couple of seasons and has been round a few non-league clubs since then. He was at Kingstonian for three years.
Some Kingstonian information:
Record defeat - 0-11 against the mighty Ilford
Last Reading victory - the last time we played them
Nearest station to ground - Norbiton
Trivia - a few years ago, I went to watch an England-Wales semi-pro international at Cheltenham. Leworthy was playing and some fans of his new club had followed him to the match. In fact, there were a group of girls at the game who had his name plastered all over their clothes, and who obviously worshipped the very ground he walked on. He never got that sort of treatment at Reading!
Should you wish to exchange in banter with any of the Kingstonian fans in the run-up to the game (and, of course, gloat at them afterwards), here are some websites you might like to try out.
