| Name | Base |
| Clive Wilkes | Gloucester |
Reading games he has refereed (may not be complete):
| Date | Result | Comments |
| 5/9/1992 | Reading 1 Hull City 2 | Lea Barkus sent off |
| 26/8/1995 | Portsmouth 0 Reading 0 | Trevor Morley was injured by a blow to the head that required the insertion of a metal plate and put him out for two months - Wilkes took no action against the culprit. |
| 17/8/1996 | Reading 1 Sheffield United 0 | Andy Bernal sent off |
| 30/8/1997 | Reading 0 Bradford City 3 | |
| 14/10/1997 | Reading 4 Wolverhampton Wanderers 2 | |
| 31/10/1998 | Wycombe Wanderers 2 Reading 3 | Pitch waterlogged and game should not have taken place. |
| 2/10/1999 | Wycombe Wanderers 5 Reading 3 | Jimmy Crawford sent off |
| 16/9/2000 | Peterborough United 1 Reading 0 | Two clear handballs by Peterborough players in the penalty area not punished. Barry Hunter sent off and a penalty awarded for a dubious handball in the last minute, which provided the winning goal. |
| 7/4/2002 | Tranmere Rovers 2 Reading 2 | Seemed to be trying to make up for some of the harm done in previous years |
| 18/3/2002 | Ipswich Town 3 Reading 1 | Adi Viveash sent off |
Other comments:
After the Hull City game in 1992, Reading officially asked the Football League that Wilkes should never again be put in charge of a Reading game. Not too surprisingly, this request was ignored.
Over the years, Wilkes has gained a reputation as the absolutely worst referee that Reading can have for any one game. On hearing that he is in charge of one of our games, fans will immediately start talking about how we have no chance in that match.
His elevation to the Premiership list during 2000/01, and his inclusion in the first group of full-time referees, are a mystery to Reading fans but actually suggest that Wilkes is one of the better referees. Based on this, it seems quite clear that he is biased against us, rather than incompetent. His motives have so far remained a mystery.
Retired at the end of the 2002/03 season. Thank God.
