The first thing easily noticeable after negotiating the tortuous entrance to Luton's away end was that the side of the pitch contained rolled-up covers, which had obviously been protecting the surface during the day. These are the same covers that Luton deliberately failed to use back in January thus ensuring that this game was postponed.

Reading announced the same team as had beaten Notts County on Saturday, and another point of interest was that the referee was Graham Poll. Now in just two days time, Jamie Cureton faces an FA hearing on charges that have come about because of Poll's need to be the centre of attention. Whichever clown decided he was fit to referee one of our games in the run-up to that hearing needs to be given a different job very quickly. Also, Luton are the nearest club to his base of Tring in Hertfordshire so it was very strange to see him in charge of this game.

You'll probably know that the game itself was pretty dire with little to report on, so I make no apology for spending time on a pre-match incident. Nicky Forster was doing some shooting practice with Scott Howie to the side of the goal after all of the other players had left the pitch. Meanwhile the Luton mascot (I mean the bloke in the big costume, not the child) decided to score a goal into the empty net in front of the away fans. After managing to hit the target he triumphantly headed for the players' tunnel whilst gesturing to the Reading fans, and tripped over Howie, who had just dived to make a save! Fortunately the mascot had those oversize boots on otherwise he could have dealt our reserve keeper a nasty injury.

Remainder of report never written due to extreme depression at the quality of our play in this game.
