Match notes:

This was Reading's seventh defeat by a non-league side since we joined the Football League in 1920, and the first that was not in the FA Cup. Before Barnet, we had lost to Guildford City (1937), Brentwood Town (1969), Hendon (1975), Wealdstone (1977), Bishops Stortford (1982) and Colchester United (1990). All the previous defeats had been by one goal, so this is also our heaviest defeat against a non-league team.

Darius Henderson was sent off for serious foul play. This will mean a three-game ban starting on 18/12/2001. That means he will miss the League games against Wigan Athletic, Cardiff City and Wrexham, unless we have an FA Cup replay against York in which case he will miss that game instead of the trip to Wrexham.
