Match report:

None.

Match notes:

The first half lasted 25 minutes and was played as eight-a-side. The second half lasted 10 minutes and was played as nine-a-side, with each side gaining a lion as a goalkeeper. The goals were placed on the 18-yard line with the D of the penalty area used as a goal area which players were not allowed to enter.

Louis Attrill and Simon Dennis are two of the gold medal-winning Great Britain men's eight from the 2000 Olympic Games. I have guessed which was which based on two-year-old photos!

Stephen Beckett is an actor is some television programme.

Steve Davis used to play snooker at a reasonably high level.

Jimmy "Five Bellies" Gardner was in town acting as Paul Gascoigne's chaperone.

Kevin Dix is a Reading supporter who won a competition to be part of the Reading squad for the main game and presumably only got press-ganged into action in this game.

Kingsley Royal is an impostor. The real Kingsley Royal (last seen at the start of the season) would have known which team he should have been playing for.

Roary the Lion is a fake lion who acts as mascot for the Evening Post.

The other eleven players are all genuine celebrities and legends who need no introduction.

At half-time I thought the score was 6-4 and when the second half began so did the scoreboard. However the MC said it was 6-5 and the scoreboard changed. If the Celebrity Team did get a fifth goal just before half-time, I didn't see it.

Match preview:

Before the main Phil Parkinson testimonial game, and during half-time, there will be a five-a-side match between a "Reading Legends" team and a Celebrity Team.
