"Foot Ball Match - On Thursday aftenoon a match was played on the Recreation Ground between the Reading and Marlow Foot Ball Clubs. After some good play on both sides the game was "drawn"."

"Football Match - A football match between the Reading and Marlow Clubs was played on the Recreation Ground on Thursday, resulting in a draw. Neither party obtained a goal after an hour and a half's play, though the Reading men had slightly the best of it."
