"Football - The last match of the season was played on the Henley ground, between the Reading and Henley Football Clubs, and after a very equal contest resulted in a drawn game."
From the Berkshire Chronicle, 5/4/1873 edition (in the Henley section):
"Football - The return match between the Reading and Henley Football Clubs was played here [Henley] on Thursday, the 3rd. inst., and like the previous game played at Reading, resulted in a draw; some very good play being shown by both sides, but neither succeeded in obtaining a goal."
Match notes:
The reference to "the last match of the season" in the Reading Mercury report may mean that this is Henley's last match of the season, or even Henley's last home match of the season, but it does actually appear to have been the last Reading game as well.
