Ben Abbey
Forward. Began his career at Maidenhead United before joining Crawley Town. Whilst playing for Crawley Town Ben had a trial with Reading, playing in a "behind-closed-doors" friendly against Northampton Town in November 1998. In approximately March 1999 he played in a couple of reserve games. He was quoted on a Crawley Town website shortly afterwards as saying "I do not want to join Reading". He joined Oxford United in the 1999/2000 season and probably regretted that decision.
He joined Aldershot on loan in August 2000 and was then signed for Southend United on 27/10/2000. After scoring 13 times in 31 games for Southend he left them in the summer of 2001. In July 2001 he had a trial for Brentford. In November 2001 he rejoined Crawley Town.
