Keny Strandberg
From www.readingfc.co.uk - June 2000:
Reading have snapped up young Norwegian midfieder Kenny Strandberg - and he could soon be followed by compatriot Espen Baerkland. Strandberg, aged 17, will sign a one-year professional contract and link up with the Academy team, while Baerkland, 18, will come to Madejski Stadium at the start of July for a six-week trial. Assistant boss Martin Allen, who flew out to Norway, said: "Kenny is a skillful midfielder who I have known for a few years as he's been training at my Soccer School. He's spent time at Chelsea and Southampton, but we have managed to get him. It's a big step for a 17-year-old. He's only about 5ft 9ins, but he's one for the future. The other lad is also a central midfielder, but he's more in the British mould and is very competitive and he wants to win. So we will put him up against our young pros and let him train with the first team and see how he goes." Both players are currently with Norwegian Division 3 outfit Lyngdal, who are semi-professional.
