Mass Sarr
Liberian International. Transfer listed on 13/1/2000 by Alan Pardew and left the club at the end of the 1999/2000 season. Was caught speeding (registration number M5ARR) on the A33 Relief Road in March 2000 and received "a hefty fine" in October 2000. During the second half of 2000 he was been linked with clubs in the USA, Australia and Spain. He spent some time with Sydney Olympic but was released by them in January 2001. In early 2002 he was in the Liberia squad for the African Cup of Nations, apparently whilst not attached to any club. In May 2002 he joined Selangor in the Malaysian League.
From Teamtalk 19/9/2000:
Former Royals striker Mass Sarr has joined the very appropriately named Sydney Olympics side on trial. Nothing went right for Sarr in his two years with the Royals and although he was in and out of the team in his first season he hardly played at all last term. This was because of a knee injury which he had treated in Germany and in America. He lives in New York and even asked for permission to consult a witch doctor, a request which was politely rejected by Alan Pardew. None of this would have mattered much had he not been earning a rumoured £6,000 a week. The cost of his two years on the Reading payroll does not bear thinking about but it wouldn't have been far short of half a million pounds.
