Steve Wood
Born Bracknell, 2/2/1963.
Central defender Steve made his Reading debut in 1979 aged 17. He left to join Millwall in 1987, later spent three years at Southampton, and then moved to Oxford United. He was offered a coaching job at Oxford but wanted to continue playing and moved to Woking. However, after breaking an ankle in 1996 he had to stop playing.
Steve has gained the full FA coaching badge and an FA diploma in treating sports injuries. He runs a chain of soccer schools but his main job is with agency Independent Sports Management. Together with Dave Beasant, Steve deals with the players on the agency's books, whilst others (including former Reading director Brian Roach) handle the business side.
As at November 2001, the agency represents Andy Hughes, Darius Henderson and Joe Gamble of the Reading first team squad but their main business is with young players.
