Mairi attended Edinburgh College of Art from 1976, specialising in Jewellery and Silversmithing, and graduated in 1980 BA (Hons). While studying there she received a travelling scholarship, and was awarded a prize in the Royal Society of Arts Annual Bursary Competition.
She ran her own jewellery design and manufacturing business successfully for 8 years, selling to top galleries throughout Britain, and regularly exhibiting at The British Craft Trade Fair & Top Drawer. After a break in creativity while her children were young, she has returned to the Arts, and over the past four years has established herself as an artist in watercolours. Living in Argyll provides constant inspiration for her landscapes and seascapes, and other favourite subjects are her pet ducks, and botanical studies. The brilliant translucent colours obtained from Artists watercolours are ideally suited to Mairi's style, allowing her to capture the wonderful Hebridean light. Her paintings should make you want to 'be in them', feel the sunlight and smell the air! Mairi and her husband, Robert, work together to produce an ever expanding range of 'watercolour' notepaper, cards and prints, which are sold at regular 3D/2D Craft & Design Fairs, and though numerous Trade outlets throughout Scotland.
