Politics!
OK, so unless you're the one with your fingers in your ears going
lalalalala you may have noticed all the CCTV cameras and government
proposals to introduce compulsory ID cards, databases of all emails and
telephone calls etc. In my view and a lot of other people's too,
this erosion of privacy threatens democracy!

Of
course, all this is is done in the name of 'The War On Terror' or
whatever those in power see fit to frighten us with at the time.
Also, if you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear.
How about we all start fearing we may have to prove we have
nothing to hide? Guilty until proven innocent seems to be the way
it works these days! Probably the best way to put a stop to this
would be Metagovernment. Sort of Democracy 2.0. The No. 10 Petition
site is a token start on the way to this I guess, so use it! As
the other overused phrase goes: Won't Someone Think Of The Children?
But this time it's a plea to stop them growing up in a world with
RFID implants and your every movement logged and analysed! Here's a forum post I made that discusses some of this urge for those in authority to control what the population says and does!
To
close, I though I'd offer a bit of an explaination of the symbolism of
the above poster. It's my updated version of the old WWII posters
designed to get the population pulling together againt a common foe.
Of course, having a crown at the top would be inappropriate, as
that's a symbol of Her Majesty's Government. I am not by any
means an anti Royalist, BTW. In fact I wish Her Majesty would
send the whole government to The Tower Of London for treason! The
text of the poster needs no explaination (Other than the pen or indeed
email is mightier than the sword...) and the black background is a nod
to the Anarchist's black flag. Of course instead of ruled by
none, I'd advocate true rule by all!
Well, I hope you found this
venting session both amusing and hopefully thought provoking.
Here's hoping the future doesn't turn out as bleak as some think
it could!
