It's Alive!
OK, this sound file wasn't the first time I started it, that was actually at 10:45 (pm) briefly before my wife came out to tell me to turn it off with two of my neighbours looking out of their windows in the nightys (honestly).
Once all the cooling was on and the system filled and bled then I hastily plugged the bike loom in all the right places (which actually took half a day a while beforehand to work out and label), shorted a few wires for clutch switch, sidestand and immobiliser circuit in the ignition switch, poked a bent rivet shaft in the main ignition terminals and then shorted the terminals of the starter button with a pair of pliers.
it turned over a few times with the plugs out to get the oil circulating (probing the low oil pressure switch to see that we had pressure) and then they went back in and it fired up.
