Membership Enquiries

The choir welcomes new singing members. No previous singing experience is necessary. However, the choir aims to sing to a high standard, and this requires a high level of commitment. This is particularly demanding in the early stages while the newcomer is learning the choir repertoire. Hart do not use music copy on stage, and everything must be committed to memory. Members must also be able to give a commitment to travel within the UK and overseas.

Anyone is welcome to attend several rehearsals to see how they like it. Please make contact with the choir first so that we can tell you how to find the rehearsal venue, and so that we know to expect you, and make sure that someone will welcome you and show you the ropes ('phone our Secretary Malcolm Bailey, tel. 0118 9734715). 

We mostly rehearse at the Cross Barn, Palace Gate, Odiham, but sometimes we rehearse at the Methodist Church, North Warnborough. Both are readily accessible from the M3 motorway. If you appear more than 2 or three times, then someone will give you an application form to fill in, and the following week you will be asked to remain behind for an audition with our Musical Director (it is very easy, honest, and there will be no audience, just you and her). She will also test your voice to place you in the appropriate section. The next week we will order your uniform, and the Treasurer will be making a note of you to be collecting your subs (currently £9.00 per month). Before you know it you will be performing on stage, and you will be wondering why you did not do it years ago. It is a great club to belong to.

Associate Membership Enquiries

For those who love male voice choirs, but who do not sing, or are the wrong gender, then we have Associate Membership. Associates have the benefits of belonging to the choir, they just do not sing.
Benefits include:

Provision of the choir’s official newsletter “Sharp Notes” - as published from time to time, to give choristers and Associate Members alike, an informative and entertaining insight into aspects of the choir’s activities.

Provision of quarterly “information news-sheets” - specifically for the Associate Members - to impart the latest news and to update them concerning forthcoming concert dates, applicable ticket prices, etc.

Notification of preferential ticket prices in respect of the two annual concerts that are specifically organised by the choir (one in the spring and one at Christmas-time).

Opportunity to purchase the choir’s recordings at a discounted rate.

Invitations to attend social events and choir trips, both at home and abroad (subject to choristers receiving priority booking in respect of accommodation and coach travel).

Membership is based on a single annual donation, per person or couple, of £12.00 pa, payable each January.
If you would like to join, simply forward your full name(s) and address, together with a cheque (made payable to HMVC) for the sum of £1 per remaining month of the current year, to: Mr Cliff Vickery, HMVC Associate Membership Liaison Officer, 27 Trewyn Park, Holsworthy, Devon EX22 6LS. He will then make sure that you receive the constant flow of information, news, and offers that the Associate Membership scheme provides, and will remind you when your annual subscription becomes due for renewal.
