Sir Rex Hunt Kt, CMG

In 1952, after four years as a fighter pilot in the RAF in India and Germany, Rex Hunt began his career in the Colonial and Diplomatic Services. His duties took him to Uganda, Sarawak, Sabah, Brunei, Turkey, Indonesia, South Vietnam, Malaysia and finally the Falkland Islands.

In the Falklands, Sir Rex served first as a Governor and Commander-in-Chief, until the Argentine invasion of 1982, then as Civil Commissioner upon the liberation of the Islands and then again as Governor under the new Constitution in 1985.

Sir Rex is retired and now lives in Yorkshire.
