Behind the Recreation Grounds in the Parish of Bean in East Dartford. Bean lies on the doorstep of Bluewater Park, which (when it opens next year) will be the largest shopping centre complex in Europe. You will be able to buy nearly everything you want at Bluewater Park - except for the simple pleasure and fresh produce derived from allotment gardening!

Bean Allotments Association has managed the site since 1996 under an agreement with Bean Parish Council. The site has about 30 plots, most of which are occupied, and a few new plotholders having arrived since the Association took over.The Association has raised the standard of site maintenance through our own efforts, while pegging the rent at £1.00 per rod, the level inherited when it took control of the site. The main problems on the site are 1) weeds and 2) more weeds. Bean Allotments Association was a founder member of the Dartford Allotments Steering Committee.

National Spring Clean ... June 1998: Jim Rowden, Treasurer of Bean Allotments Association, receives an award from the Tidy Britain Group presented by the Mayor of Dartford, Councillor Ivor Jones, to mark the successful participation of the Association in this year's "National Spring Clean" campaign. This is the second year in which Dartford's allotment gardeners have taken the opportunity through participation in the QED Waste Management Group to clean up accumulated rubbish from their sites and environs. Last year's participants were Marcet Road Allotments and Wilmot Road Allotments.
