Minutes of the Thirty-Fourth Meeting of the Committee

Tuesday 14th September, 1999 from 8:00pm at 11 North Road, Dartford.

Present: Mr Bourne, Mr Johnson, Mr Jones, Mr Laidlaw, Mr Palmer, Mr Alldred, Mrs Bourne, Mr Staines, Mr Rainey, Mr Gousy

     
  1. Appointment of a Chairperson: Mr B Palmer was duly appointed.

     

  2. Apologies: Mr Smith, Mrs Anderson and Mrs Morey

     

  3. Minutes of the Thirty-Third Meeting of the committee: Accepted.

     

  4. Matters Arising from the Minutes: The AGM will be held at the Scout Hall, Broomhill Road from 8:15pm on Wednesday, 24th May, 2000. The treasurer has transferred the agreed sum (£500) to the Association's deposit account.

     

  5. Secretary's Report: Mr Laidlaw reported that the King's seed catalogues had arrived and would be distributed with the Autumn newsletters. All seed orders need to be sent to the Secretary by the end of October. It was requested that anyone wishing to attend the KAGC AGM on the 9th October, 1999 should let the secretary know by the 24th September. It was agreed to renew the Association's membership of Thrive.

     

  6. Review of Tenancies. Mr Laidlaw reported that the site was currently 100% rented with 110 plotholders. Two plotholders are to be contacted to see if they wish to carry on or to reduce the size of their plots.

     

  7. Finance: Mr Jones reported a current account balance of £1763.15.

     

  8. Grounds paths and Equipment: Mr Bourne reported that there were no current problems with any of the equipment. Some paint for the shed door and some grass seed is to be purchased.

     

  9. Autumn Newsletter: It was requested that any articles for inclusion be forwarded to Mr S Gousy. An article requesting shrubs for a new flowerbed and some recipes to be included. An article explaining the existence of the generator is to be included in the newsletter.

     

  10. Winter Jobs Schedule. A list of jobs that can be completed this winter will be made available in the main tool shed. These jobs include painting, mower repairs and general site clearing.

     

  11. Quality Environment for Dartford: Mr Johnson reported on the current activities of the group and the work being undertaken on Tredeger Allotments. It was mentioned that the Food Issues group was not progressing very quickly.

     

  12. Any Other Business: It was mentioned that some members from Dartford Road attended a conference of the NFCFCG in London and many useful contacts were made. It was agreed by the committee that the date for payment of rent be changed to the 1st January, starting in the year 2001, which it was thought would allow for better management of plots. To facilitate this, the rental invoices for 2000 will be set at 3/4 of the yearly rent, for the period 1st April, 2000 to 31st December, 2000. An idea to hold a summer "Allotment Awareness Day" was discussed and ideas were to be brought to the next meeting.

     

  13. Date of Next Meeting: 7th December, 2000 at 1 Marcus Road, Dartford from 8:00pm.
