Introduction: This was the first time that the group had met in a long time. Therefore it was agreed to have a brainstorming session to see if the group could achieve an objective and direction.
Present: Justin Bettey, Pat Still, Malcolm Still, Jan Bourne.
1) Apologies for Absence: None.
2) Minutes of the Last Meeting: These were agreed.
3) Matters Arising:
Health Articles:
The group decided that the Health Article project should be pursued. JB has contacted Judith Webb (Head of dietetics) at the NHS Trust and she has agreed to help the group with the supply of information on various health issues. JB requested that she also checks the final articles for approval of the medical content.
JB also contacted the PR Manager (Mr Oakley) at the NHS Trust to discuss the possibility of them presenting at the Dartford Festival. Mr Oakley will discuss this with his Director.
The group decided that Fawkam Manor and Littlebrook psychiatric hospitals should also be contacted with regards the Festival, this will hopefully encourage some competitiveness between the private and National Health schemes, and thus we should get at least one hospital attending.
The group discussed themes for the Borough News article and decided on a "Healthy Living" type article. This may include such issues as
The group also thought that if the Borough news article could be on the same theme as the Hospital event at the festival, then this would create good continuity. For example the representing Health Trust could undertake weight checks, body fat checks or cholesterol checks.
Actions: J Bettey: To contact Fawkam Manor and Neil Parraher at Littlebrook hospital to discuss the Festival, also to chase up Darenth hospital. Contact Judith Webb to discuss article in Borough News. Contact the local MP to discuss the groups article project to see if he has any concerning issues with it.
4) Next meeting: (The next edition of the Borough News will be released in the middle of May. Therefore the article needs to be prepared by about the end of April. Therefore a meeting which will be dedicated to the article, will be set for the 18th of April at 7:00)
