An urban allotment site within the Tokyo metropolitan area, located on land to be kept under agricultural use for thirty years under the terms of the Productive Green Space Law in exchange for preferential tax treatment. Open to the public and equipped with high quality facilities, including a nice clubhouse and composters on each plot. Plots in Nerima Ward are featured within the text of Wiltshire and Azuma (2000).

Profile (by Ren Azuma): A site of 2,909 square meters operated by Nerima-ward council on land leased for over 10 years from a local farmer. There are 48 plots each of 30 square meters (double the usual plot size of 15 square meters in urban areas) let on two year leases which are renewable only by lottery. The usage fee is 14,400 yen (85 pounds) per plot per annum. Funding obtained from Ministry of Construction programmes.
