Minutes of the Meeting of the QED Steering Group July 15 1998

From 7.30 pm at Enterprise House

Present: John Gunn (Chair), Ian Hammerton (Chair, QED Biodiversity Group), Richard Wiltshire (Chair, QED Allotments Group), Mike Pratt (for Pat Martin), Phil Kessel and Alan Cremer (DBC).

Apologies for Absence: Pat Martin, Paul Smith, John Strong, Julie Morton, Isobel Perry, Laurence Gandy, Richard Pullman (Dartford Heath Ranger).

The meeting was called primarily to deal with final arrangements for the Dartford Festival. The following matters were touched on briefly or relevant documents tabled for consideration at the next meeting:

1) The QED Allotments Group has endorsed the decision to curtail physical involvement with the Darenth Country Park Project until the security situation has been resolved.

2) The balance of the QED Budget is currently £3,862-91p.

3) It was agreed that £175 will be granted to the QED Allotments Group to help with expenses for a trip to Uplands which is open to QED members.

4) Copies of SERPLAN (London and South East Regional Planning Conference) will be enclosed with these notes.

5) Dartford Borough Council's Local Agenda 21 Review will be enclosed with these notes. All chairs were urged to send any comments about the Review to Alan Cremer by August 14th at the latest, in order to collate them in time for a strategy group meeting with Chris Oliver. Mr Oliver is to be invited to attend the meeting on September 2nd at 7.30 pm.

6) Mike Pratt reported that DBC is now advertising a post of Deputy Director whose main role will be concerned with all aspects of Local Agenda 21.

Dartford Festival

1) A draft location map of the various exhibits in the QED Marquee was circulated.

2) Phil Kessel distributed a "Logistics Pack" to each chair,

3) A review was made of each of the proposed Group exhibits in the marquee.

4) A request has been made for members of the QED Youth Group to take part in the judging of Charity stalls.

5) It is hoped that Paul Smith is dealing with the question of computers.

6) Helpers should arrive any time from 12.00 noon on Friday and 9.00 am on Saturday.

Date of Next Meeting: Provisionally set for September 2nd at 7.30pm, mainly to discuss the Local Agenda 21 Review Document.
