| April 29 ~ Malcolm Young of Ludlow Runners has been in touch to advise that the 2008 Bent Clees Challenge will take place on Sunday August 17th at 10.00am. SHAW PYE finished second in this event in 2007. There is a choice of a 13 mile or 26 mile run (or walk) and there is also a 3 mile fun run at 11.00 am. Copies of the entry form are in the Club File |

| April 28 ~ ELLIE HOOPER completed her debut marathon at Stratford yesterday, setting a new F50 club record in the process. Ellie knocked a small but effective 48 minutes off Jenny Badham's 8-year old record which was also set at Stratford-upon-Avon. Ellie's report is on the RACE REPORTS PAGE. | April 28 ~ Another excellent performance at Stratford yesterday as STEVE CLARKE finished the full marathon in a brilliant 3:08.52 to claim 33rd position out of 748 finishers. If Steve can reproduce that results next year, John's M40 club record is in serious trouble ! Steve had entered before joining AFRC which is why I missed him from the results originally. | April 27 ~ It's 100 years since the first 26.2 mile marathon in Coventry in 1908, and Coventry's Godiva Harriers are celebrating the fact with a five-race Tour of Coventry & Warwickshire series spread over eight days and making up a total of 26.2 miles. | April 25 ~ Our own PETE WALL has been heavily involved in setting up the Wyre Forest's newest running club. But don't worry, he isn't leaving us. PETE has set up the new WYRE FOREST HASH HOUSE HARRIERS and they will be holding their inaugural event on Thursday May 1st at the Royal Forresters pub at 7.00 pm. All are welcome to go along and enjoy hashing in the Wyre Forest. The club has a new website at www.wyreforesthhh.org.uk |

| April 17 ~ We have the dates for the Worcestershire Mid-Week series this summer :: May 21st, Race One, Hagley 10km (once again this race clashes with the Telford Sexarathon series !) :: June 11th, Race Two, Arrow Valley, Redditch 10km-ish (this race was 7.2 miles last year !) :: July 9th, Race Three, Droitwich 10km :: August 13th, Halesowen 8km. | April 12 ~ Details have been received of the entry system for the 2009 Flora London Marathon. Sadly, FLM has gone the way of the Coniston 14 this year and entries will ONLY be accepted ON-LINE ! The public ballot entry system opens tomorrow (April 13th) at midday, and will close on September 5th or earlier if entries exceed 120,000. There will be NO postal entry system using the Marathon News magazine as previously. Go to www.london-marathon.co.uk if you want to enter. Sadly, if you haven't got a computer or a credit card or don't want to use your credit card online, tough ! |

| April 7 ~ With the recent switch to British Summer Time, the evenings are just about light enough to start our summer off-road training sessions on Friday nights. First up, this Friday (11th), meet up at Button Oak Car Park (the top car park of the two when coming from Bewdley) at 7.00 o'clock. PLEASE DO NOT BE LATE : THE LIGHT IS NOT YET THAT GOOD AT 7.45, SO WE WANT TO GET AWAY PROMPTLY AT 7.15 LATEST. Distance will be approx. 6.5 miles taking in parts of the ROC 8 and Sweatshop Half courses. The usual full listing of Friday evening venues will be available within the next week or so. watch this space ! |

| April 2 ~ OK - we were all well impressed with SHAW PYE's race win at the Trollers Trot on Saturday (29th). Except that he didn't win the Trollers Trot on Saturday. He actually finished third in the Trollers Trot on March 3rd. On Saturday 29th, he won the Kipling Kaper in Meerbrook. Don't blame me - I only report what I'm told !!!! |
