AMAZING FEET RC : LATEST NEWS ARCHIVE ~ DECEMBER 2009
December 31 ~ While the rest of the world was partying, watching Jools Holland, eating and boozing, RICHARD BAKER made it a total of 61 races for 2009 with the Derby New Year's Eve 2km at Milford. An out and back run along the side of the A6 starting at 11.57 pm made this a true NYE race, with midnight fireworks in all directions. Toast & jam and coffee in the Social Club afterwards completed the fun : great to see former member HEATHER HARRISON (now a Black Pear Jogger) there with hubby Steve. Happy New Year everyone !
|
WE WOULD LIKE TO WISH ALL OF OUR MEMBERS, THEIR FAMILIES & FRIENDS A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR. Hope you all have a healthy, happy and successful 2010, and achieve all your ambitions, whatever they may be. PB' s all round ! |
December 28 ~ AMAZING FEET members are reminded that annual subscriptions of just £15 were due at the end of November 2009, and membership of the club will lapse if subscriptions haven't been paid by next Thursday, December 31st. After this date, you will NOT be able to enter races as a club member, and will not be able to pay the lower entry fees for club members. All payments please to Membership Secretary SARAH LEWIS as soon as possible
December 28 ~ It's race number 60 of the year for RICHARD BAKER as he takes part in the Christmas Pace Race organised by Massey Ferguson RC in Coventry. Full details are already on the RESULTS PAGE
December 27 ~ Full details from to-day's Wheaton Aston Roman 10km are now up on the RESULTS PAGE : both our ladies secured top six category finishes, with RACHAEL MOSS runner-up in hers
December 27 ~ Four FEET complete the Wheaton Aston Roman 10km to-day, with RACHAEL MOSS and JAN FLAVELL-RAYBONE both scoring excellent PB's. SIMON GREGG and RICHARD BAKER are the other finishers for the club : details on the RESULTS PAGE with full results to follow
|
WE WOULD LIKE TO WISH ALL OF OUR MEMBERS, THEIR FAMILIES & FRIENDS A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS. Have a great time and and enjoy your holiday |
December 24 ~ Full details from last night's Derby Midweek 5km are now available on the RESULTS PAGE
December 23 ~ We have added the team members for the County Cross Country Championships at Droitwich on January 9th 2010 to the HOMEPAGE : just underneath the Cross Country box
December 23 ~ In what was one of his more stupid ideas, RICHARD BAKER travelled 40 miles to Derby to run in tonight's Midweek 5km on an icy course, with a blizzard raging around during the actual race. Details are on the RESULTS PAGE : full results to follow
December 22 ~ With apologies to all members, the next edition of the club magazine FEET FIRST will now be published in January 2010. This is due to the work involved in putting together the Christmas Quiz, which means the magazine is just not quite ready. The next edition will include all the usual features covering the two month period
December 22 ~ We have updated the RUNAROUND WYRE FOREST 8 PAGE, including the full listing of entries received by to-day's date
December 21 ~ With the Christmas Quiz finally behind us, I have now been able to turn my attention to the Race League :: the final League table for 2009 has now been completed and is available on the INTER-CLUB RACE LEAGUE PAGE. Also available is the line-up for the 2010 Race League with race dates where available
December 20 ~ A strange day with runners (including our own RICHARD BAKER and DAVID WHYMANT) wandering around the Telford Shopping Centre after the Christmas 10km was cancelled at 7.30 this morning due to an icy course. A 7.45 e-mail to all entrants obviously didn't have the desired effect but then, who turns on their computer before heading out to a Sunday morning race ? The race has been re-scheduled for Sunday January 10th 2010, and we assume it remains full
December 17 ~ The Christmas Quiz and Festive Buffet provides great entertainment and a cracking evening. Shame that only 16 people could attend, four of those being guests. Nevertheless, the quiz was competitive and enjoyed by all (CRAIG & SARAH LEWIS, SUZANNE & CAROLINE DUNN as Santa's Little Helpers emerged victorious) and the buffet was sumptuous and plentiful. To complete a brilliant evening, it was decided not to charge the few who attended, making it an excellent free evening
December 14 ~ It would appear that the mysterious Peter Johnson (Amazing Feet RC) in yesterday's Mortimer Forest results is simply down to an admin error - his number apparently was next to Craig Lewis's number and we understand he is a Mercia Fell Runner. We therefore had 15 runners at MF - our joint second highest turnout of the year. Well done to you all. Race League updates to follow after the Christmas Quiz
December 13 ~ A late result from MARIE BYRNE as both she and daughter CASSIE BELCHER recorded marathon PB's at the Florence Marathon on November 29th : full details are now on the RESULTS PAGE
December 13 ~ Seems we had 16 runners out at Mortimer Forest to-day, making it our equal highest League race turnout of the year. However, a certain Peter Johnson is one of those 16, and at least two of the committee have never heard of him ! Can anyone cast any light on this ? Meantime, great to see SHAW PYE returning to the area to record a great sixth place finish, and also good to see CRAIG BONE making a welcome appearance. GERRY SANDERS turned up and subsequently won the 2009 Inter-Club Race League, and our two new guys STEVE JAMES and ADRIAN WILLS both made their debuts for the club. Full details are on the RESULTS PAGE :: The RACE LEAGUE PAGE will be updated once we have sorted out the Peter Johnson affair
December 8 ~ Early news on the 2010 Race League from last night's committee meeting : 15 of the 16 races are confirmed, with one still to be decided : the first event will again be the Not The Roman IX 12km in Stratford-upon-Avon on Sunday January 17th. THERE ARE STILL PLACES AVAILABLE, BUT THIS RACE IS FILLING UP FAST AND WILL BE OVER-SUBSCRIBED. ENTER NOW to avoid disappointment : 9 races have survived from last year (you voted for them) and there are six new races, two of which make their league debuts. Confirmed final listing will be available later this week
December 8 ~ Six entries to-day take the current entry for the 2010 Runaround Wyre Forest 8 up to 41. Full information and current entry listing can be found on the RUNAROUND WYRE FOREST 8 PAGE
December 8 ~ Our ladies finished in an excellent 13th position out of 27 clubs at Birchfield last Saturday (5th); SARAH ARMSTRONG, EMMA HORNBY and LOUISE MASSEY guided us to 4th out of 13 teams in the Vets competition. Full details are now available on the CROSS COUNTRY PAGES
December 7 ~ MARK BAILEY headed for the tropical wilds of Aldershot on Sunday (6th) where he tackled the Grim 8 miler. As you would expect with a name like the Grim, this one was full of mud and waist-deep water (oh joy) : full details are on the RESULTS PAGE
December 7 ~ SIMON GREGG takes up his new position as Club Chairman for the first time as the committee meet at the King and Castle. JEAN MAFFEI makes her debut on the committee
December 7 ~ MARK COOPER has advised of another recent race completion : he ran in the Cotswold 10km on Sunday November 29th. Full details are on the RESULTS PAGE. Full details from Mark's Shakespeare Raceway 10km on November 21st are also now on the RESULTS PAGE
December 7 ~ Full details from yesterday's Centurion GP 5 are now on the RESULTS PAGE
December 6 ~ RICHARD BAKER takes part in to-day's Centurion GP 5 miler on a sunny, but blustery morning : results to follow
December 6 ~ Results from the Birmingham & District League race at Leamington are in : we finished in an excellent 6th position out of 16 clubs, our best ever placing. Full results will be updated as soon as possible
December 5 ~ An excellent turnout at both of the cross country fixtures to-day, with ten men out at Leamington, and six ladies at Birchfield. DEAN GREGORY made his cross country debut for the club, while Club Captain IAN HALL made a welcome comeback from injury. PHIL WEBER and GEORGE STERRY-MacDONALD made their first appearances of the season. EMMA HORNBY and RACHEAL MOSS both made their first starts of the season for the ladies
December 4 ~ Good luck to all our cross country competitors in tomorrow's second round of League races, the men are at Leamington Spa and the ladies at Birchfield, just down the road from me
December 4 ~ Only ELEVEN Race League 2010 voting forms have been received at to-day's date. The decision on next year's league make-up will be made on Monday evening at the committee meeting : you have one final chance to make your preferences count ~ e-mail RICHARD BAKER with your completed form before Sunday evening please
December 4 ~ If any club members are heading to races in December and January, and will be willing to take a pile of Runaround Wyre Forest 8 entry forms with them could they please let RICHARD BAKER know as soon as possible, so we can get forms to them
