AMAZING FEET RC : LATEST NEWS ARCHIVE ~ JUNE 2007

June 30 ~ Will all entrants in tomorrow's Malvern Half Marathon please note the following comment on the race website : Due to the adverse weather conditions around Upton-on-Severn, we have planned an alternative route to use if necessary. This will result in a reduced course of 11.7 miles. Just how this affects the County Half Marathon Championships, we don't know, but as far as the Inter-Club Race League is concerned, the distance doesn't matter, and League points will still be awarded for this race. Not sure what state the club picnic after the race is going to be in though
June 29 ~ RICHARD BAKER makes it 18 races for the month in the excellent Colin Potter Memorial 10km from Derby Rugby Club. Details on the RESULTS PAGE

June 28 ~ RICHARD BAKER takes part in the second race (a multi-terrain 5km ) in the Holme Pierrepont summer GP (summer - hah!) at the excellent Wollaton Hall gardens and deer park. Shame about the downpour before, during and after the race !

She has already completed the Plymouth and Torbay Half Marathons, with the Great North Run still to come on September 30th. The sky-dive from around 12,000 feet will be on Saturday July 14th at Brackley in Oxfordshire. Please help to boost Heather's fund raising activities, by visiting her sponsorship page at www.justgiving.com/HeatherHarrison

June 24 ~ RICHARD BAKER makes it 20 races in 36 days with a disastrous run in today's Gate Gallop 7 miler at Tamworth. Heavy rain had turned the last two miles into a flood plain, coupled with dangerously broken stiles and four-minute waits to cross barbed wire fences ruined the day. definitely one to avoid next year !

June 23 ~ All the movers and shakers can now be checked out following last week's League Race at the Stourbridge Stumble - see the RACE LEAGUE PAGE. Any errors or queries, let me know
June 22 ~ Another excellent turnout as 17 FEET take to the fields and woodland around Blakedown for the first Blakedown Bolt. Nice to see BRIAN HUMPHRIES and ROGER CANAVAN there supporting the club athletes, plus former member LINDSAY PULLEY - thanks all for your support. SHAW PYE finished this surely over long 10km in second place, just five seconds down on the winner. CRAIG LEWIS and CRAIG BONE both posted top ten finishes - shame there wasn't a team prize. Results to come . . .
June 22 ~ As well as the Stumble results, the Worcestershire County Multi-Terrain Championship results have been published. As far as we can see , the following Amazing Feet members are 2007 County Multi-Terrain Champions : CRAIG BONE (M45), DAVID WHYMANT (M60), ANITA JONES (F35) JEAN MAFFEI (F40) and ELLIE HOOPER (F50). Silver medallists are : JOHN AMOS (M50), AMANDA POWELL (Ladies), SARAH LEWIS (F35). ANDY NORRIS took the M60 bronze. June 21 ~ We have received a request from the organisers of the Blakedown Bolt regarding parking, which appears to be the biggest worry for tomorrow night. The main runners' car park is on Station Road - this is the biggest parking area and is for the exclusive use of runners on the night. Please follow the signs and use this car park - it is just three minutes away from the start. When this fills up, you will be directed to one of two overflow car parks. Please show consideration to Blakedown residents. Better still, catch the train from Kidderminster ! This way you can fully re-hydrate in the bar afterwards.

June 13 ~ Just two members (IAN HALL and RICHARD BAKER) represent the club at the second race in the Worcs mid-week League at Redditch. The 7.4 mile race consisted of two laps in Arrow Valley Country Park, on a very wet, and ultimately very dark evening, especially in some of the forest sections. Results to come . . .
June 13 ~ Sadly, earlier reports that RACHEL WARD had suffered an accident at the same Ellesmere Triathlon have proved to be true. Rachel had a "wobble" as she calls it on the cycle ride, and has suffered a fractured clavicle (didn't know you could take musical instruments on a triathlon). This will almost certainly mean the end of Rachel's Triathlon season for 2007, as well as seriously curtailing her running activities. Rachel isn't able to drive at the moment, so she has asked us to say "Hi" to everybody on her behalf. Get better soon Rachel !
June 13 ~ NIC HYDE took part in the Ellesmere Triathlon last Sunday (June 10th), which consisted of a 1500 metre swim in the lake, 40 kilometre cycle ride and a 10 kilometre run. Details are on the RESULTS PAGE

June 12 ~ It was agreed at last night's committee meeting that the club will offer a lightweight "Trail" jacket to members, as has been requested in the past. The jacket will be in blue with a black side flash, and will have the club badge on the front left hand side in white, with AMAZING FEET RC on the back, also in white. We have seen other clubs wearing a similar jacket, and they look very smart, especially when a group are together after a race. The cost will be £20 + VAT (£23.50) - if anyone wants to order one of these please let SHAW PYE know with your size. Delivery will be in late summer. We will try to get a photo of the sample we have on here later this week
June 12 ~ We have received an entry form today for the Shuttle/Mercer 10km on September 23rd. This is a club league race, as well as being the Worcs Championship 10km event. Copies are in the Club File.

WE NEED TO CONFIRM NUMBERS FOR THE VISIT TO OUR TWIN TOWN OF HUSUM FOR THEIR HARBOUR FESTIVAL & ROAD RACE BETWEEN AUGUST 1st and 4th 2007. 15 MEMBERS HAVE EXPRESSED AN INTEREST, AND THE VISIT WILL NOW BE COSTED AND FURTHER DETAILS RELEASED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. WE DON'T YET KNOW IF THIS WILL BE A 4-DAY OR 2-DAY VISIT, OR WHETHER WE WILL BE STAYING IN A HOTEL, YOUTH HOSTEL OR EVEN WITH LOCAL FAMILIES. IF ANYONE ELSE IS INTERESTED, PLEASE LET JANE PYE KNOW AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE

June 11 ~ It was decided at tonight's committee meeting that the Ledbury Chase league race will NOT be replaced. The race has been moved back a week this year, and now clashes with the Shuttle/Mercer 10km which is a County Championship event. The 2007 Race League will consist of just 15 races
June 11 ~ It is with great sadness that the committee have accepted the resignation from Amazing Feet of LINDSAY PULLEY for personal reasons. Lindsay has already turned out twice in the colours of his new club Merry Hill Striders, so we really had no choice but to accept. We need an idea of numbers for this, so please let either Martin or JANE PYE know if you are interested in taking part in the visit and the race. Do it now please, so we have an idea of numbers before Monday's committee meeting
