AMAZING FEET RC : LATEST NEWS ARCHIVE ~ NOVEMBER 2008
November 30 ~ It's race number 75 for the year for RICHARD BAKER as he takes part in Kenilworth Runners' winter league fixture at Hunningham to-day : the Dowdeswell Dawdle. Richard actually finished 4th on the road in the 5 mile race
November 29 ~ New entry forms added to the Club File today for the Coventry New Year's Day New 5, and the excellent Bourton-on-the-Water 10km on Sunday February 22nd 2009 : the BOTW 10km is flat, fast and en excellent PB course (and it fills up it's 570 entry limit well before race day)
November 29 ~ We have been advised that the 2008/9 Worcestershire County Championship Cross Country race will take place at Malvern on Saturday January 10th 2009. Contact your cross country captains for further information
November 29 ~ The second round of Cross Country league races take place next Saturday December 6th at Droitwich (men) and Leamington (ladies). Captain IAN HALL advises that we have 14 confirmed to run at Droitwich - anyone else who wants to join the party is welcome : please call Ian. Ladies Captain SARAH LEWIS has indicated on the Forum that we have seven ladies running at Leamington : again call Sarah if you want to join in
November 29 ~ CRAIG LEWIS is organising a Christmas Handicap race in the Wyre Forest on Sunday December 28th at 11.00 am. The start will be at the four-mile drinks station of the Runaround Wyre Forest 8 and the handicap will be run over a tough three mile course. Meet at the Button Oak car park at 10.00 am to be guided to the start. Advance notice to Craig please, so he can work out your handicap
November 29 ~ Entry forms are received today for the Bourton-on-the-Water 10km on Sunday February 22nd 2009 (excellent flat, fast PB course) and the 13th City of Lincoln 10km road race on 29th March 2009. The Tewkesbury half marathon is also confirmed for Sunday May 10th 2009 (clashes with Crowle and the RNLI Lymington)
November 28 ~ Excellent news for the club, as RUNAROUND SPORTS from Worcester agree to sponsor the Wyre Forest 8 on Sunday February 15th. The race will now be known as the Runaround Wyre Forest 8
November 28 ~ Two old favourites are back on the race scene for 2009 : the Crowle 10km returns after a two year absence on Sunday May 10th, while the wonderful Lake Vyrnwy half marathon makes a welcome return after missing last year on Sunday September 13th (sadly this is almost certain to clash with England's most picturesque half marathon at Langdale). Entry forms for both are to follow
November 27 ~ Copies of FEET FIRST 70 were handed out to everyone at the AGM. Everyone else's will be posted out over the next few days
November 27 ~ The draw for the clubs' two places in next year's Flora London Marathon was made at the AGM : GERRY SANDERS and RACHEAL MOSS were the lucky (?) recipients, with SUZANNE DUNN winning the reserve place. Should Gerry or Racheal have to withdraw before February, Suzanne will be able to take their place. Commiserations to those who were unsuccessful - why not join us for the Windermere Marathon on May 17th where there will be a considerable club presence ?
November 27 ~ JOHN AMOS is re-elected as Chairman, and the existing committee re-elected for the next twelve months
November 27 ~ It's the 15th Annual General Meeting of AMAZING FEET RC tonight at the Aggborough Suite at Kidderminster Harriers FC. As well as the 6 committee members, 21 club members attend a lively and interesting meeting
November 26 ~ FEET FIRST 70, the latest club magazine, is finally completed and copied ready for distribution at tomorrow night's AGM
November 24 ~ E-mails and letters are sent to all members with notification of an additional item to the AGM agenda for Thursday night
November 23 ~ Well done to RACHEAL MOSS who finished as third lady, and ANITA JONES who both took part in the Kemp Hospice Santa Fun Run today. Seems the Hospice managed to raise around £12,000 from the race, so well done to everybody concerned
November 22 ~ Thanks to my mate CHRIS HARRISON again, we have now added entry forms for the following races to the Club File :: Bournville Harriers Xmas handicap on December 21st, Stourbridge Stagger on February 8th 2009, Telford Ennstone 7 on February 15th 2009 (sadly arranged on the same day as the Wyre Forest 8) and the Dudley Action Heart 5 on February 22nd 2009
November 18 ~ Suicide Six results have now been amended : Jane's excellent time is now deleted from the records forever (you'll have to actually run it next time) and DAVID PYE is now rightfully restored. Full details are on the RESULTS PAGE. If there are no other queries, we will update the Race League in the next couple of days
November 17 ~ The FULL committee meets at the Land Oak, with SIMON GREGG in attendance for the first time
November 17 ~ Further discrepancies from the Suicide Six : JANE PYE has informed us that she didn't run and actually sent her number back. DAVID PYE did run at the Suicide Six, but isn't in the results. Watch this space for eventual corrections
November 17 ~ You see, that's what comes from not checking the Race League first. With apologies to SUZANNE DUNN, but she isn't quite confirmed as third place in the Ladies league just yet. If JEAN MAFFEI races at Sneyd, it will be her 10th race and will earn her 10 bonus points, plus the points at Sneyd, so it will all depend on the last race
November 16 ~ The PREVIOUS RACE LEAGUE WINNERS PAGE has been updated with this years' confirmed positions
November 16 ~ Again, following to-day's race, the destination of the Ladies trophies is confirmed. LOUISE MASSEY had already won the ladies title, and now ANITA JONES is confirmed as runner-up, and after an incredible year, SUZANNE DUNN cannot be caught for third place
November 16 ~ Following today's Race League event, DAVID WHYMANT is now confirmed as finishing in third place. Despite taking maximum points in over half of the fifteen races so far, CRAIG BONE still needs to turn out in the final race at Sneyd and finish no lower than 24th for the club to prevent JOHN AMOS from pinching the title. Proof once again that the AMAZING FEET Race League works better than those allowing competitors to pick and choose their best races
November 16 ~ Congratulations to DAVID WHYMANT, SARAH ARMSTRONG and RACHEL WARD who all won their categories at to-day's Suicide Six. Eighteen FEET in all took part in the latest event in the 2008 Race League. Results are already available and are now on the RESULTS PAGE
November 16 ~ Race number 74 of the year for RICHARD BAKER as he completes today's Tipton 5km in just under 24 minutes, only his second 5km under 24 minutes this year, the first being the Gavin Tipper 5km in June which appeared to be short. Results are already available and full details are on the RESULTS PAGE
November 15 ~ Good luck to those running in tomorrow's penultimate League Race at the Suicide Six-ish which is full : an alternative just down the road at the Tipton 5km starts at 11.15
November 15 ~ A REMINDER TO THOSE WHO ARE EXPECTING TO GO INTO THE DRAW FOR THE CLUB'S 2009 LONDON MARATHON PLACES THAT YOU MUST SHOW YOUR REJECTION SLIP TO RICHARD BAKER BEFORE THE DRAW IS MADE AT THE A.G.M. So far only KEVIN DRAPER and GERRY SANDERS have done so - therefore they are the only two in the ballot so far !!!!! There is a committee meeting on Monday evening (17th) so show your rejection to any committee member before then and we will update the ballot at the meeting. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO SHOW PROOF OF REJECTION, NOT OURS
November 12 ~ We currently have 15 entries for next year's Wyre Forest 8 on Sunday February 15th. Don't forget the race limit is just 350
November 12 ~ You may have noticed the lack of any local events on November 30th. So how about one of these ? The Farm Endurance in Staffordshire consists of a 9km cross country run, then you have to pull a dead weight over a set distance, and finally, a bale run (dismantle and re-assemble a hay stack over a distance of 20 metres). Don't fancy it ? Then how about the Little Stretton to Stiperstones Time Trial in Shropshire ? Travel on foot, in the shortest time possible between the two, you choose your route, which can be 9 or 10 miles depending on that choice. Details for both are in the Club File
November 12 ~ We have added a number of entry forms to the Club File : Forest of Dean Christmas Tree 5 on December 7th, Massey Ferguson Christmas Pace race (3.55 miles) on December 28th, the Stafford 20 on March 9th 2009, Forest of Dean Half on March 15th 209 (£17 entry fee !), Ironbridge half marathon on March 22nd 2009, the Shakespeare Marathon & Half on April 26th 2009 (£23 entry fee - they gotta be kidding !) and the Muller 10km on May 10th 2009
November 10 ~ We have been advised by Stratford-upon-Avon AC that places for the Not The Roman IX 12km race on Sunday January 18th are filling up fast. It is likely (though not decided until next month) that this race WILL be in the 2009 Race League so you are advised to get your entries in as quickly as possible to avoid disappointment. Should the race not be included in the League, you will have no trouble in finding someone who wants a number after Christmas
November 9 ~ A welcome return to racing today for CRAIG LEWIS at the first Mad Jack 5 race at Attingham Park near Shrewsbury. Craig has been out since injury in July, and though he didn't pick up any race prizes, he did walk off with the main spot prize of a night's stay at the Mytton & Mermaid Hotel, complete with dinner and a jazz evening. Not a bad day's fun : details are on the RESULTS PAGE
November 9 ~ Three club members complete today's Sodbury Slog (very wet and muddy) and results are already in : full details on the RESULTS PAGE
November 8 ~ If anyone fancies an excellent half marathon on November 23rd at Clowne in North Derbyshire, RICHARD BAKER has entered and is travelling up with an empty car. As long as you can get yourselves to junction 7 of the M6, a free lift is available : phone or e-mail Richard if you fancy it
November 8 ~ The RACE DIARY PAGE has been updated
November 8 ~ We have received entry forms for the Massey Ferguson 3.55 mile pace race on Sunday December 28th, Stafford 20 on Sunday 9th March 2009 and Muller 10km on Sunday May 10th 2009. Copies are in the Club File :: thanks to Chris Harrison for the forms
November 7 ~ The RACE LEAGUE PAGE has now been updated, complete with all the climbers and fallers : congratulations to LOUISE MASSEY who is our Ladies League Champion for 2008
November 7 ~ Having sat and written out 75 envelopes, I have decided that will be the final time. I am arranging to have labels printed for each member : PLEASE ENSURE THAT WE HAVE YOUR CORRECT ADDRESS DETAILS
November 7 ~ AGM letters have been sent out to all 82 club members over the last two days by first class mail. Please contact RICHARD BAKER if you haven't received yours by Monday 10th
SITE MANAGEMENT NOTICE (November 7) ~ The latest news items from August & September 2008 have now been moved onto archive pages :: follow the links below the menu on the left hand side of this page
November 7 ~ Hot off the press : the Suicide Six (November 16th) is now FULL ! Thanks to Brian Smith (DKRC) for the info
November 6 ~ Congratulations to JUDITH HARDWICK and SHONA CUTLER, who both completed last Sunday's New York Marathon (November 2nd). Details are on the RESULTS PAGE
November 6 ~ JULIE DRAPER recorded a half marathon PB in the Birmingham half on Sunday 26th October, now duly recorded on the RESULTS PAGE
November 6 ~ Finally, organisers of the first Birmingham half marathon (October 26th) have included the official gun times in their results (prompted by e-mails from a certain club member) so these are now available on the RESULTS PAGE
November 6 ~ We promised them to you, and now they are here !!! New club vests, complete with the full name on the back, are now available from SHAW PYE, priced at £17.00

November 4 ~ A number of missing races have been added to November & December fixtures on the RACE DIARY PAGE, which now goes up to October 2009
November 4 ~ The names have been added to the times & positions on the MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY PAGE. Our first runner has been missed off the results on the official League website, which has pushed us down to 12th place. Thanks to Brian Smith of DKRC for sending me the correct team positions : despite advising the league of their error, we are still shown two places lower than we should be
November 4 ~ Last Sunday's Uffmoor Shuffle (November 2nd) was also the Worcs County multi-terrain Championships, and well done to DAVID WHYMANT and EMMA HORNBY who collected County title and gold medals. CRAIG BONE and JOHN AMOS picked up individual bronze medals, while the ladies won the team silver and the men picked up the team bronze awards. Thanks to JOHN AMOS for the information
November 3 ~ We have received our club places for the Flora London Marathon on Sunday April 26th 2009 : PLEASE NOTE ALL CLUB MEMBERS WHO HAVE BEEN REJECTED AND BELIEVE THEY ARE ELIGIBLE TO GO INTO THE BALLOT FOR THESE TWO PLACES MUST INFORM RICHARD BAKER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. The up to date listing is on the HOME PAGE. As we have the club places earlier this year, we propose to make the draw at the A.G.M. on Thursday November 27th at Aggborough

November 1 ~ RICHARD BAKER heads for Lakeland once again, completing the 15kms Helvellyn Trail race : yep, muddy legs, soaked shoes and soggy socks and all
