AMAZING FEET RC : LATEST NEWS ARCHIVE ~ OCTOBER 2008
October 31 ~ It's a disappointing evening as just 26 club members attend the annual Quiz and Curry Evening at Aggborough. However, the evening is a success once again, hopefully enjoyed by all who were there
October 26 ~ RICHARD BAKER recorded his fastest half marathon time since Stroud in October 2003 at today's EDF Birmingham half
October 26 ~ Results from yesterday's Cross Country League races at Senneleys Park are available, thanks to the D-K website. Go to the CROSS COUNTRY PAGES for full information
October 26 ~ Results from today's EDF Birmingham Half Marathon have now been published, and are on the RESULTS PAGE. However, timings given are unofficial chip times, whilst race positions appear to be based on race times. This gives Anita Jones a time 30 seconds faster than Richard Baker, but a position over 400 places behind. Similarly, Corin Elliot and Julie Draper receive the same anomaly. Great race, but with traffic delays for runners early this morning, a 20 minute delay to the start and now idiotic results listings, Birmingham needs to do better !
October 26 ~ After discussions with the Bells of Pattingham Race Director, we have now found ANITA JONES in the results, and final details are now on the RESULTS PAGE
October 26 ~ Great to see such a good turnout at the first EDF Birmingham half marathon this morning. Eight club members finished the race : full results are awaited
October 26 ~ Well done to both IAN HALL (PB by over six minutes) and MARK BAILEY (marathon debut) at yesterday's Snowdonia Marathon. Ian & Mark led the AMAZING FEET contingent of four who finished :: details are on the RESULTS PAGE
October 25 ~ Results from the Bells of Pattingham Run last Sunday (19th) are up, though there are still some anomalies, one of which being that ANITA JONES isn't included. Details as far as we have them are on the RESULTS PAGE. If there are any other queries with the results, please let RICHARD BAKER know as soon as possible
October 24 ~ Good luck to all AMAZING FEET runners at tomorrow's Snowdonia Marathon, as well as those hardy souls representing the club in the first cross country league races of the season at Senneleys Park. Best wishes too to those taking part in the first Birmingham Half Marathon on Sunday
October 23 ~ Another update to the CROSS COUNTRY PAGES. Usual link on the left
October 22 ~ The CROSS COUNTRY PAGES have been updated. See link on the left
October 21 ~ Will somebody please tell DAVID WHYMANT that he is supposed to slow down as he gets older ! Last Sunday (19th) he ran the Leicester Marathon, finishing in a PB 3:12.39 and breaking his own 2007 Club M60 Marathon record by 4 minutes and 22 seconds. Full details are on the RESULTS PAGE
October 21 ~ Congratulations to GEORGE STERRY-MacDONALD who ran the Coventry Godiva half marathon last Sunday (19th) along with Kevin & Julie Draper. Full details are now on the RESULTS PAGE
October 21 ~ The first 150 positions are now up on the Bells of Pattingham website, but they are having problems collating the rest. Everything available thus far is on the RESULTS PAGE
October 20 ~ FLORA LONDON MARATHON 2009 CLUB BALLOT :: Everybody keeps asking about the 'club places' so here is a reminder of how you qualify for the club ballot. You have to have been a member of AMAZING FEET RC for at least one year, and you have to provide proof to a committee member that you have entered the 2009 race and been rejected. Those members who won places through the club ballot for the 2008 race are NOT allowed to enter the club ballot this time. As long as you satisfy these conditions, you qualify to go into the draw for our two club places. However, preference is then given to those members who did not run in the 2008 Flora London Marathon. The draw will be made once we have received the official paperwork from FLM - IT IS UP TO YOU TO TELL US THAT YOU QUALIFY FOR THE DRAW
October 20 ~ There is some limited information on the D-K website from the Bells of Pattingham Run yesterday (19th), which has been updated to our RESULTS PAGE :: main results still awaited
October 20 ~ KEVIN and JULIE DRAPER both took part in yesterday's (19th) Lady Godiva half marathon in Coventry. Details so far are on the RESULTS PAGE :: full results to follow
October 19 ~ It was good to see another high turnout from the club at today's Bells of Pattingham Run, the fourteenth event in the 2008 Inter-Club Race League. Unofficially, LOUISE MASSEY has won the 2008 Ladies title by completing the race today. Full results to come as soon as they are available
October 19 ~ Entry forms for the Wolverhampton Turkey Trot on Sunday December 21st were picked up at today's Bells of Pattingham Run : these are now in the Club File for you to take
October 19 ~ In his amazing year, RICHARD BAKER set a new personal record today at the Bells of Pattingham Run, when he completed his 70th race of the year, beating his previous record of 69 in 1989. Just for the record, in the last nine consecutive Pattingham runs, Richard recorded only his third sub 60 minute time - the last was in 2003
October 17 ~ PLEASE NOTE THAT THE DATE OF THE 2008 CLUB AGM HAS BEEN MOVED BACK A WEEK TO THURSDAY NOVEMBER 27th.
October 15 ~ We know the Wyre Forest 8 mile multi-terrain race is a popular event, but just 24 hours after the 2009 race was launched, we have two entries in the post this morning. See the WYRE FOREST 8 PAGE for more information
October 15 ~ Full details are now available from the Waltham Winder also last Saturday (11th) and these are now on the RESULTS PAGE
October 15 ~ With apologies to JUDITH HARDWICK, we missed her result in the Worcestershire Beacon Race last Saturday (11th) despite seeing her at the race. Judith's time & position has been added to the RESULTS PAGE
October 14 ~ Despite the gremlins getting into the website, the thirteenth WYRE FOREST 8 mile multi-terrain race will take place on SUNDAY FEBRUARY 15th, 2009. The WYRE FOREST 8 PAGE has now been updated, and yes, there is an entry form on there which can be downloaded. Paper entry forms will hopefully be available at Pattingham on Sunday, and at most local events for the rest of the year
October 14 ~ There was one further new member approved at last night's committee meeting : RACHID TAIBI becomes our 81st member, and we welcome RACHID to AFRC. RACHID, born in Brighton & Hove on the Sussex coast is 30 years old, and has been a regular at training for the last few weeks
October 14 ~ SHAW PYE does have around a dozen of the old vests still available in stock, though not all sizes are available. These are now available at the knock down price of £7 to try and clear them before the new style arrives : see Shaw if you are interested. We also have stocks of the blue shorts which haven't proved to be popular with club members generally. These are now available for the giveaway price of £4 per pair : once these have gone there will be no further stocks
October 14 ~ We are about to order a supply of brand new running vests, which will differ from the current version by having AMAZING FEET RC on the back, instead of AFRC as we do now. These will be available at cost price of £17 plus carriage costs from SHAW PYE. If anyone wants to pre-order, please speak to Shaw and advise him of your size and how many you want
October 14 ~ The subject of Friday night training was raised at last night's committee meeting, and it seems that since the summer runs ended with the shortening of the daylight hours last month, there has been a distinct lack of interest in training from the Glades on a Friday evening. It has therefore been decided that WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT, WE WILL NO LONGER MEET FOR TRAINING AT THE GLADES ON A FRIDAY EVENING. Training on Mondays & Wednesdays at the Glades remains unaffected ~ meet at 7.00pm for a start at 7.15
October 13 ~ SIMON GREGG offered to join the club committee, and was subsequently proposed, seconded and unanimously approved as our sixth committee member. This is still one short of our preferred number of seven, so anyone else out there who would like to have a say in the running of the club, or is just interested in seeing how it all works on a monthly basis, please get in touch with one of the current committee and out your name forward
October 13 ~ The committee met tonight at the Land Oak with all five committee members present
October 12 ~ IAN HALL completed the Waltham Winder 16 mile race in Leicestershire yesterday (11th). Details so far are on the RESULTS PAGE. Full results to follow
October 12 ~ Sadly, only three AFRC members bothered to make the short trip to tackle the first 5 mile Run For Worcester at New College Worcester. All three however recorded top three category finishes, with category wins for DAVID PYE and JULIE DRAPER. Full details are on the RESULTS PAGE
October 11 ~ Entry forms were picked up at Malvern today for the Mayhill Massacre 8.7 mile multi-terrain event n February 1st 2009. Copies are in the Club File which will be at the Glades on Monday evening (13th)
October 11 ~ Four AFRC members take advantage of some stunning weather to run up the Malvern Hills and across the top. Stunning views, lung bursting hills, and loads of sunshine. Full details are on the RESULTS PAGE (there may be some discrepancy with the results as it apparently took me 17 seconds to cross the start line from just 5 rows back !)
October 8 ~ With thanks to SIMON GREGG and IAN HALL the results from the JW Ultra relay race on September 27th are now on the RESULTS PAGE
October 8 ~ taking in the Shuttle/Mercer 10km and the North Worcs 8, the RACE LEAGUE PAGE has been updated
October 8 ~ Finally we have results from the Bournville Leafy 10km last Sunday (5th) : full details of our three runners are on the RESULTS PAGE
October 7 ~ Words of wisdom from IAN HALL, RACHEL WARD, MARK COOPER and JULIE DRAPER have all been added to the RACE REPORTS PAGE
October 7 ~ Apologies also to MARK COOPER who also took part in last Sunday's Bournville Leafy 10km : we await results from Bournville Harriers ! In the meantime, Mark's time has been added to the RESULTS PAGE
October 7 ~ Still no results yet from last Sunday's Bournville Leafy 10km, nor from the JW ultra canal race the week before (27th September)
October 7 ~ Sincere apologies to JOHN AMOS who finished 24th (and 3rd M50) in last Sunday's North Worcs 8 but wasn't down in the results as AMAZING FEET. All has been rectified on the RESULTS PAGE. This would of course change the team results, with our second team of three now finishing in 5th instead of 7th
October 6 ~ It is still not too late to pre-enter next Sunday's Run or Walk For Worcester five miler, which is being held to raise funds for the blind and partially sighted students at New College Worcester. All entries received by Thursday will be returned as long as you include a stamped addressed envelope with a first class stamp on. Entries will be taken on the day as well. If you have nothing else planned, please support this event, either by entering, or volunteering to help marshal
October 6 ~ JANE and DAVID PYE competed in yesterday's Bournville Leafy 10km race - results are still awaited
October 6 ~ RACHEL WARD dropped down from triathlon to duathlon yesterday (5th) finishing as 10th lady and 4th vet at the Carsington Duathlon. Details are on the RESULTS PAGE
October 6 ~ Not surprisingly, given the fact AMAZING FEET filled 15% of the field at yesterday's North Worcs 8, we placed four teams in the strange team competition which includes both male & female runners. Our first team finished 4th, behind host club Bromsgrove & Redditch in first and second (hmmm) and Cocks Moor Woods Leisure. Our other teams finished 7th, 8th and 9th
October 6 ~ The latest event in our 2008 Race League took place yesterday (5th) at the North Worcs 8 multi-terrain race at Rubery. It was a good job that we included the event in our league, as the thirteen FEET who turned up swelled the total numbers to ... 89 ! Congratulations to DAVID WHYMANT who won the over 60 male category, and also to JEAN MAFFEI, ANDY NORRIS and JULIE DRAPER who all finished third in their categories. Full details are on the RESULTS PAGE
October 5 ~ The CROSS COUNTRY PAGES have been updated : access the main page from the links on the left, then access either the men's or ladies section from there
