THE 2nd WORCESTER HALF MARATHON

SEPTEMBER 5th 2010 : 11.00

UK ATHLETICS LICENCE 2010-101030

CAMBA EVENTS are delighted to be organising the second Worcester Half Marathon on behalf of St. Richards Hospice in Worcester, and Runaround Sports who will be hosting the race at their HQ. The 13.1 mile multi-terrain event will be held at the excellent Top Barn facility in rural Worcestershire and will be run around two laps of private land, starting and finishing at the lakeside outside Runaround Sports shop. The terrain consists of footpaths, fields, tarmac and trails, over an interesting, undulating course. Experienced club runners and first timers are all welcome to take part, in what we hope will be a superb, family day out at this excellent facility. Last year's inaugural event saw over 200 athletes taking part with many commenting on how much they had enjoyed the event.

LATEST WORCESTER HALF MARATHON NEWS FROM CAMBA EVENTS

365 DAYS TO GO

September 5 ~ Congratulations also to our 2010 Ladies Champion EMILY EVITTS who knocked over four minutes off the previous year's winning time to take the title in 1:37.41. Second was CLARE SCOTT of Hereford Couriers in 1:44.25, with RACHEL RICHARDS third in 1:45.12.
September 5 ~ Congratulations to our 2010 Worcester half marathon Champion RORY McMAHON of Hercules Wimbledon AC who despite two falls in the slippery conditions raced home in 1:22.15 - four minutes ahead of IVAN PAWLUK of Worcester AC in 1:26.38 and WAYNE LAW in 1:29.34 who was third.
September 5 ~ We are delighted that 96 on the day entries gave us a final race entry of 227 : an increase of over 10% on 2009 despite the unpleasant early morning weather.
September 5 ~ Despite the promise of fair weather, sadly the heavens opened around 9.30 on race day, though after a wet start to the second half marathon the rain did go away for a couple of hours and enabled most of the field to finish under cloudy, but drier conditions.
September 2 ~ Registration will be open from NINE o'clock on Sunday, in the marquee at Top Barn next to the lake and the car park. On the day entries are at £14 for UKA affiliated club members, and £16 for unattached runners. PLEASE HELP STAFF BY BRINGING THE CORRECT MONEY.
September 2 ~ 60% of the advance entries are male, with 40% representing the fairer sex.
September 2 ~ We currently have just ONE M60 entry and ONE M65, so at the present moment both look likely to win their categories should they finish. The oldest female category represented is F55, so the F60 trophy looks likely to remain in the box this year.
September 2 ~ With time now run out on postal entries, we are delighted that entries are up on 2009, though it is disappointing that there are twice as many unattached entries as club runners. Local club BLACK PEAR JOGGERS are by far the largest single club entry, with 10. Malvern Joggers have 3 entries, with Centurion RC, Evesham Vale RC, Spa Striders, Tewkesbury AC, Westbury Harriers and Worcester AC all on 2.
September 1 ~ Currently the weather forecast for Sunday is looking good, though it may be a little warm for running half marathons. There will be plenty of water out on the course, but do make sure you drink plenty of water before the start.
August 18 ~ We are approaching the pre-entry level of last year, so please continue to send in your entries : you will save £2 if you enter before the day, and will have all the information to hand before you travel.
August 13 ~ The first Royal Mail card requesting payment because the sender didn't pay full postage is received to-day. Somebody out there sent in an A4 envelope with an ordinary stamp on it ~ if this was YOU, you will need to re-apply as your envelope will not be collected from RM.
July 6 ~ UK Athletics race licence is approved. Number is 2010-101030.
June 29 ~ Runners Information booklets have now been received back from the printers, and all entries received so far have now been processed and returned into the safe hands of Royal Mail.
June 24 ~ UK Athletics race licence application is completed on-line.
June 22 ~ Sponsor forms are received from St Richard's Hospice.
April 23 ~ Seems the landlords at Top Barn have imposed a £1 parking fee : this applies to ALL visitors to the venue, not just for the half marathon, and is something we cannot persuade them to lift for the day. Apologies to all entrants ~ bring £1 coin with you to speed up entry.
April 19 ~ Meeting at Top Barn to finalise details for the 2010 half marathon.
March 11 ~ The first entries are received for the 2010 race with Vincent and Alison Chorley fastest off the mark.
March 1 ~ The second Worcester Half Marathon is launched to-day following discussions with St Richard's Hospice. The 2010 entry form is now available - click on the link to the left.
