Sept
7 ~ For those wondering where our UK Athletics Race Licence was on
Sunday, well, we hadn't received it. Our county licensing officer had
confirmed everything was approved, and UK Athletics confirmed they had
posted it to us on Friday ! For anybody bothered enough to want to

lady's races, and your final category positions, are now available

Sept
6 ~ What a brilliant day ! We had so many more on the day
entries than expected (75) which gave us a final entry total for the
first Worcester Half Marathon of 202, with 186 finishers : thank you
to everybody for your support. early indications are that St Richard's
Hospice will have benefited to the tune of over £12,000 from the
event. The weather was almost ideal for the runners, if a little
windy, and most importantly for everyone the rain held off. |
|
Sept
5 ~ BLACK PEAR JOGGERS are easily our biggest club entry at 16, with
Amazing Feet RC and Black Dog RC next on 3 each. Registration will be
open at 09.30 tomorrow morning for any on the day entries. |
|
Sept
5 ~ Pre-race entries finished at 127 : thanks for all your support and
we'll see you at Top Barn in the morning. Weather forecast is fair,
most importantly it should be dry. |
|
Sept
3 ~ There will be trophies for the first three men, the first three
ladies, and each five-year category winner from M40 to M65, and from
F35 to F60. Anyone who wins a prize (only one per person) is asked
please to join us at the post race presentation where the excellent
trophies will be handed out. Winners' names will be posted up in the
marquee as soon as possible. |
|
Sept
3 ~ For those who have pre-entered the race, please note that there is
a change to the originally planned course. The woodland section which
was to be used on the first lap and which included two very steep
hills (an uphill with a rope and a downhill that resembled a toboggan
run) has now been scrapped. The course will now be two identical
undulating laps, with four drinks stations. |
|
Sept
3 ~ The final planning meeting was held today at Top Barn, and
everything is ready for the first Worcester Half Marathon on Sunday.
Current indications are that the weather will be dry on Race Day. |
|
Sept

instructions have now been returned in the post : entries are now at

return them, BUT WE WILL BE ACCEPTING ENTRIES ON THE DAY AT THE RACE
VENUE FROM 09.30. |

|

Mayor of Worcester, Mr Andy Roberts. |
|
July
9 ~ We have learned to-day that 20 GP practices have all committed to
provide one runner each in the half marathon, and each has pledged to
raise a minimum of £500 : that's £10,000 for St Richard's Hospice
before we add in entry fees and generous donations & sponsorship from
the other runners. |
