The After Show Cabaret - to be sung to the tune of 'Tit Willow'

words written by Sharon Brindle

A lone G&S fan sat at his PC
On Savoynet, Savoynet, Savoynet
Discussing the merits of New D'Oyly C.,
With Savoynet,Savoynet, Savoynet,
When an e-mail came through with an idea divine,
All
"If this summer at Buxton you're anxious to shine,
Would you like to perform a production of mine,
Mike Nash
Savoynet, Savoynet, Savoynet?" All

The idea was a good one, 'twas most evident Bronwen Evans
To Savoynet, Savoynet, Savoynet All
And from all o'er the globe our suggestions were sent Julie Bjerregaard
To Savoynet, Savoynet, Savoynet All
Would we tackle "Engaged", which near nobody knew? Chris Wain
Could we sing "Gondoliers" with a chorus of two?
And the stickiest question of who would play who?
Shani D'Cruze
Stephen Hill
From Savoynet, Savoynet, Savoynet. All

It was clear "Trial by Jury" would be the best bet Sylvia Greinig
For Savoynet, Savoynet, Savoynet All
Since the music was known by us all on the 'Net Anne Allwright
(Savoynet, Savoynet, Savoynet) All
So we sent off audition tapes to our MD
With a flattering mugshot and potted CV
Karen Anne Loxley
Then the cast was selected and posted to see Jackie Richards
On Savoynet Savoynet, Savoynet All

The cast was a quite miscellaneous mix John Genzano III
From Savoynet, Savoynet, Savoynet All
From chic urbanites to those out in the sticks Sharon Brindle
Of Savoynet, Savoynet, Savoynet All
Though most of the cast lived up Lancashire way, Phillip Walsh
The Learned Judge hailed from the US of A, Sam Silvers
And the Foreman was Welsh (well, what more can you say?) Bob Richards
It's Savoynet, Savoynet, Savoynet! All

Young Nick, our Defendant, took us on the road Nick Sales
With Savoynet, Savoynet, Savoynet All
By inviting us all to his humble abode Nick Sales
Through Savoynet, Savoynet, Savoynet All
Though we called it rehearsal, the meaning was clear,
An excuse for the copious consumption of beer,
David Duffey
And it added a lot to the very good cheer
Of Savoynet Savoynet, Savoynet
All

So now you have heard how we came to contrive,
With Savoynet, Savoynet, Savoynet,
A "Trial by Jury" for Festival Five
By Savoynet, Savoynet, Savoynet
All
Though rehearsals we know we have had precious few,
Still, we hope that our efforts you did not pooh-pooh,
Kelsey Thornton
And we hope that one day we'll get e-mail from you
On Savoynet, Savoynet, Savoynet!
All
