BMs and Ladies chorus in general
Tights:
White, please for everybody. At least 40 denier. Or wear two pairs, one over the top of the other. Pop sox/knee highs acceptable for BMs as you're wearing pantaloons - but please test in advance so you're sure they won't fall down. Not acceptable for wenches who will probably be flourishing their petticoats with more vigour than anybody else and won't have pantaloons.
Hair:
Think curls and ringlets.
Think more ringlets if you're a BM as more hair will be showing.
Think fewer if you're a villager and have a mob cap.
Wenches, we'll assume, thought ringlets last time they were feeling virtuous but hairpins have since lost their virtue. You will have mob caps but if so will have a good deal more hair escaping.
Wiggy Joan will be in attendance, but if you think you will want her help let me know (if you haven't done so already) so I can warn her of how many people will require her services.
Notes for Gentlemen
Bucks and Blades
[ Bucks and Blades Illustrations ]
Costumes:
The majority will wear the 'napoleonic' uniforms from G&S Co. Because there are more of you than there are uniforms, however, there will be FIVE civilian 'bucks' in cut away coats and trousers or breeches from either Midlands Costumes or G&S Co depending on the fit. Notification of who these five are will follow fairly shortly.
You provide:
- Gloves
White and wrist-length for all gent's chorus.
- Shoes
All gent's chorus have PLAIN black shoes throughout. If your shoes have laces, cover these with black tape. B&B's will need buckles for shoes, silver, not more than 2 1/2 inches square. Metal for preference, but card covered by tin foil acceptable. Fix on with black elastic around the foot if you can't find another way.
- Socks
Plain black, please for everybody. Should your costume have breeches and stockings, these will be provided by the costumiers.
