Notes for Ladies

Bridesmaids

Frocks will be supplied by Midlands Costumes. These are a set of really rather pretty and well-made cream affairs. Satin underskirt with heavy lace overskirt, empire line, sleeves not far above elbow. To be worn with long pantaloons and trimmed straw bonnets (provided). Each frock is trimmed slightly differently in muted colours; mushroom or pink or yellow or eau de nil or paler cream or terra cotta or whatever.

You will provide:-

• Gloves:
  Short gloves, wrist length, in your own choice of colour. Colours taken so far are:-

  red cream silver lavender

  mid blue canary yellow cerice pale yellow

  dark blue Deep Orange lemon

  pink lacy navy blue lime

  Some duplication of colours is OK, but you might have to swap gloves if David places you on stage next to someone with identical coloured gloves.

  Please let me know if there are any colours to be added to the list.

• Shoes:
  Either white character shoes (Mary Janes) OR white ballet pumps (or something that looks the same) depending on whether or not you are a bridesmaid who will stamp. If you're not sure, query this with David Duffey. For people in ballet pumps, I'd strongly suggest sewing on ribbons that fasten around the ankle (so they don't fall off). You can also simulate character shoes by wearing court shoes with a loop of matching elastic that goes right around the foot at the instep.

• Bouquets:
  Fresh flower bouquets have been ordered from the Green Pavilion florists in Buxton and will be available on the morning of the 5th August. They will cost about £4-£5 each.

Frocks:
Being hired from Midlands Costumes. Wenches costumes are matching but different colours with full skirts and built in petticoats (but bring another if you've got one - you can never have too many for my money), elbow length sleeves, short, over-bodice that laces up the front, white lace trim at neckline and sleeves. Will come with mob cap and apron.

Shoes:
Villagers and wenches: black character shoes. (or simulate with court shoes and a loop of elastic around the foot).

BMs and Ladies chorus in general

Bucks and Blades

Costumes:
The majority will wear the 'napoleonic' uniforms from G&S Co. Because there are more of you than there are uniforms, however, there will be FIVE civilian 'bucks' in cut away coats and trousers or breeches from either Midlands Costumes or G&S Co depending on the fit. Notification of who these five are will follow fairly shortly.

You provide:

• Gloves
  White and wrist-length for all gent's chorus.

• Shoes
  All gent's chorus have PLAIN black shoes throughout. If your shoes have laces, cover these with black tape. B&B's will need buckles for shoes, silver, not more than 2 1/2 inches square. Metal for preference, but card covered by tin foil acceptable. Fix on with black elastic around the foot if you can't find another way.

• Socks
  Plain black, please for everybody. Should your costume have breeches and stockings, these will be provided by the costumiers.

Shoes, socks &c as for B&B's

Sons of Tillage/Evil Crew

Costumes:
From Midlands Costumes. Sons of T will wear smocks and breeches. Evil Crew, black breeches and waistcoat, white period shirts.

I provide:

• Black masks.

• Shoes & Socks
• Plain black as above. Buckles as per B&B's for Evil Crew only.
• A straw to chew??
• Black wrist length gloves for Evil Crew.
