                                 Airspeed Ambassador History
Only 23 Airspeed Ambassadors were produced with the first flight taking place in 1947. G-ALFR was used extensively as a test bed for turboprop engines and was demonstrated in this role at the 1955 Farnborough Air Show. It was later returned to standard condition (i.e. with Centaurus piston engines) and operated by Dan Air. The last commercial Ambassador flight was made in 1971 by G-ALZO also in the service of Dan Air. This machine is now the only remaining Ambassador and is currently undergoing restoration at Duxford.''
