It is seven years since I first played Half-Life. Since then, Apprehension has undergone many changes and I now realise that I’ve thrown away more than I now know about this brilliant game.

At the moment I’m watching with dismay the history of Quake and Half Life disappear as Steam becomes the default solution to distribution. Half Life grew out of Id games; it ran on a modified Quake engine before the development of Source. This link is still visible in the console codes. Id games are now downloadable via Steam. To me this is symbolic of something not good, a dumbing down. I’m filming Quake and Half Life and am going to be uploading some history films in the near future to remind people of what is slipping away.

I’m sorry that I didn’t keep the many stories people sent me and the wonderful notes on Half-Life animals and their natural history (Lastie’s guide to Xen). Apprehension does not include a walkthrough for Half-Life one or two anymore. But I include walkthroughs for Koumei Satou‘s mods: I don’t believe it’s difficult to get answers anymore for the more difficult sections of either Half Life game. But if you are really stuck and you can’t find a friendly forum…please write to me and I’ll do my best to solve your problem: rideflame-at-btinternet.com

I intend to reform Apprehension and to restore it to something more like my original intention soon!.
