Fast electric

club 500 boatThe new "Club 500" class is becoming very popular and we hold races right through the year. These boats are inexpensive, easy to build, FAST and above all fun. Which on our pond means the captain needs very quick reflexes. They are built from a standard kit of parts with few modifications permitted. This leads to close and interesting racing without resort to expensive specialist equipment

Due to popular demand we will be running informal races through the winter. The summer race series for the trophy will start in April see Summer timetable for dates.

Boat Specifications

  1. Boats must be built from the standard club 500 kit.
  2. No alterations to the model, motor or drive train are permitted.
  3. Two channel radio only
  4. Battery packs can be 5 or 6 cell Nicad or NiNh
  5. Buoyancy may be added
  6. Boats will have a 2 x 7 cm Velcro patch (eye side) on top for attachment of the race number
  7. A foam bow bumper of at least 3mm thick will be fitted.

Race course and duration

Races will be between 2 - 6 boats of four minutes duration, over an M shape course as shown below.
