Technical talks 2001

Starting on the 12th December at 7:30 at the Martlesham Heath pavilion with a double b

  • Tactic tactics. A collaborative evening where we share our experiences building and sailing the Tactic. If you are building one bring it along. Copies of the revised instructions and drawings will be available.

    Club 500 tuning. Steve and Ian tell us how to get the best out of the new fast electric class.

Coming attractions in the new year

  • Steam boat evening. Dave Nicholls will show us how to build a simple "Pop Pop" steam boat in an evening. Bring along you own beer can (you will need to empty it).

For sailors

  • Starting to sail, Terry Rigden and Ian Dunmore.
    Terry gives the technical details and admits his mistakes on his boat Pteristoi which made a clean sweep of the 2000 sailing competitions.
    Ian lets us into the secrets of his weird looking but very fast "Bottle boat". Yes it really is made from old Coke bottles.

  • Simple sailing, Dave Nicholls and Ian Dunmore.
    Dave and Ian get us all building and completing a simple free sailing model in the evening for just 50p. And it leaves Skipper yachts for dead.

For power boaters

  • Starting on Steering, Ian Alcock
    Steering champion Ian shows us how some of the finer points of boat handling and how to get a boat round a steering course.

  • Boat electrics, Ian Alcock and Steve Rayner
    Ian and Steve show us the care and feeding of batteries and electrics generally.
