Departure

A door ajar -
and sunlight filtered
throught the dust
of a long-forgotten room.
Fresh laughter
laced the stillness,
discoveries
dissolved the years.
A neglected corner
was sought out
and brought alive.

Time
now secures the door
again.
The light withdraws
leaving traces
of warmth,
an echo of tears.
