Anchor Inn

Freehouse. This is the most westerly pub in Shropshire and at 386m (that's 1,266 ft) above sea level it's also the second highest in Shropshire - and it's surrounded by lovely countryside. It's a bit like a barn with a bar at one end, but the pub has an honest feel to it. The real ale prices are keen, and the beer is well kept. Inside there is a pool table and outside a car park. Situated on the B4368 not far from the Powys boundary. Visited May 2011

Readers comments - Visited on a quiet Wed evening - but an excellent welcome from the Landlord, and a roaring log fire (its cold up there!) Big Nevs and Hobsons on handpull with at least 3 star quality - Oct 2010
- Wednesday night visit did not disappoint! Two beers on, Hobsons Bitter and Big Nev's. (3.5 star) Atmospheric sort of place and unique in west Shropshire in my book - May 2011
