Crown & Anchor Vaults

Freehouse. The youth pub in town - with noisy decor and music. Floorboards and sawdust - there can't be many pubs like this still left. Good atmosphere, but smoky. Two real ales at cheap prices. Pool table. Situated on High Street. Occasional live music. Tel - 01588 638966. Visited in June 2000, Jul 2003 and Dec 2005

Kings Head

Freehouse. Busy, noisy pub with a pool table. Re-opened in early 2008 after being boarded up - and no handpulled ale. Food served. Situated half way up the hill in Bishops Castle. Tel - 01588 638816. Visited in Feb 2008

Six Bells

Brewpub. Home of the Six Bells Brewery run by Nev Richards. This is a small friendly pub serving distinctive true bitters. Bar and lounge. Lively and good atmosphere. Food served. All the beers are tasty and distinctive - including the special brews. Situated in Church Street at the bottom of the hill in Bishops' Castle. Tel - 01588 630144. Three Tuns

Brewpub. Famous for its old Victorian brewery tower and distinctive ales - but now the pub and brewery are in separate ownership. Open all day and unspoilt by progress. Food served in a restaurant area. Two bars and eating lounge with a log burner. Friendly bar with pleasant helpful staff. Some beers served a bit too cold. The pub and brewery were sold in the 1890s for £40 and £13 - according to the invoice displayed in the rear bar. Situated in Salop Street at the top of the hill in Bishops' Castle. Three 8 Flavour is very temperature sensitive - improved with warmth, bitter aftertaste
