Black Boy

Freehouse. The pub sign depicts a chimney sweep. This pub was formerly known as the Prince Charles for a while. This is a nice little local, with candles it is quite atmospheric. The Hobsons beers were very well kept and tasty - well worth trying. Situated on cartway between High Town and Low Town. Tel - 01746 764691. Visited Aug 2002.

Freehouse. Pub Website A haven for real ale drinkers with loads of handpulled beers on offer. Smallish bar - and restaurant area. Food Served. There are a few tables in the alleyway for outside drinking. Friendly service. The Town Crier was excellent with an aftertaste of peanuts. Hollyhead Inn

Freehouse. Re-opened in 2004 after new owners have carried out a re-fit. During the last visit in Aug 2001 it was a touch run down and tatty looking. It's a multi-roomed pub with occasional live music. Situated on Hollybush Road and handy for the Severn Valley Railway. Formerly the George Hotel. Tel - 01746 762162. Visited Aug 2001 - must visit again soon & check out the beer.

Jewel of the Severn

Opened in 2002 - this is your typical J.D.Wetherspoons pub - big open spaces, air conditioned, no music, cheap beer and food. It's a busy establishment, so be prepared for a long wait at the bar while people order food and coffees. Readers comments - New Inn was refitted out three years ago, has a great outside drinking area where patrons can smoke, wooden floors throughout with nicely co-ordinated upholstery. Best pint of mild from a traditional handpull in Bridgnorth - Sep 2008

Banks's pub. Formerly the Bandon Arms. Just one real ale. The Banks's was okay. Sprawling eating type pub with a childrens play area. Food served. Car park with lots of space for disabled visitors. Readers comments - Alan says that Hobsons is also available. Mary (the Licensee) has 6 hand pumps: 2 have Batham's Bitter and Hobson's Bitter as regulars and the other 4 take the ever-changing guest ales. These usually include a mild, another 'cooking' and 2 special ales (or stronger). The quality of the Bathams and Hobsons both merit (I think) stars.
