Church Stretton

Bucks Head Hotel

The pub serves a beer called Old Bucks that is brewed by Bass. Food served. Situated near the roundabout in the middle of town at 42 High Street. The pool room is now a restaurant area. Beer garden at the back. Overall, the beer was a bit disappointing. Tel - 01694 722898. Visited Jul 2003  Pub website

Readers`comments - The Bucks Head is the place to go in Church Stretton no matter what age, it's been refurbished and they have several guest ales on which are changed frequently.  Great service! - Feb 2009

Kings Arms

Small old fashioned pub. Open all day Sunday - useful to know !  The Bass was not as good as the Bombardier. Situated at 53 High Street. Tel - 01694 722807. Visited  Jul 2003

Readers comments - Seems a bit rundown to me but is very cosy with lovely beam features and brasses.  They seem to do a good pint and they have a big garden around the back which is lovely in the summer - Feb 2009

Old Coppers Malt House

Good food menu and open all day on Sundays. Situated on Shrewsbury Road. The number of real ales is now down to just two from the six that used to be on offer - and both were a bit lifeless. Bar and lounge and other little "meeting rooms". Pool table and darts in the bar. Jukebox has a very good selection of 70's rock. This was the 300th pub visited by the beer tasting team. Housemans

Re-opened in 2009 as Housemans - it used to be the Wine Vaults. This must be one of the narrowest pubs in Shropshire. Situated on Shrewsbury Road. Tel - 01694 724441

Three Tuns ....   need to visit soon to try the beer
Readers`comments - Bright, open and clean interior. Despite a restaurant feel, there's a bar with two real ale handpulls - from the Three Tuns brewery. Also the tables are not laid out for diners. So it's still more a pub than a restaurant. I had a pint of the Three Tuns Stirling (4.1%) - it was served a bit cold but once warmed up was a good pint. So I'll give it a rating of 3.5 out of 5. The owner seems very enthusiastic and there were an incredible amount of staff on duty! Worth popping in if in Church Stretton - Nov 2009
