Market Drayton

Clive and Coffyn

Freehouse. Nice to see Hanby Ales in Market Drayton, and quite tasty it was too, and quite cheap. Very popular on Saturday nights - music can be a bit loud and it may be standing room only. Food served. Real fire. Situated on Shropshire Street. Tel - 01630 653263  Visited Jan 2001

Gingerbread Man

Tom Cobleigh pub. Market Drayton is the home of Gingerbread - but the pub didn't have any on the menu. Six handpulls on the bar - but only one real ale - and a sad excuse it was too, tasting a bit like cold tea. There's a big car park and a kiddies play area. Food served. Situated off the A529 on Adderley Road. Tel - 01630 652771  Visited Apr 2003

Jack Hanby's Place

Freehouse pub. A popular local with original floorboards and lots of events. Guest ales - the Hobsons was a bit ordinary but it was difficult to taste the beer in such a smoke filled atmosphere. There was a lively game of dominoes going on and the signs around the pub announced lots of upcoming events such as 70's nights and a pub quiz. Situated on Stafford Street. Tel - 01630 652530  Visited Apr 2003

Red Lion

Bass pub. The outside offers little clues to the minimalistic style interior - which got a thumbs up from the beer tasting team. The beer wasn't bad either which is quite surprising because Bass and Worthingtons both needs to be well kept to taste at their best. There are two bars and food is served during the day. Lots of black and white framed photos in the front bar. Situated on Great Hales Street. Car park. Tel - 01630 652602  Visited Apr 2003

Stafford Court Hotel

Freehouse hotel. It's unusual for small hotels to also serve real ale. The Marstons Pedigree was a bit lifeless. The Mansfield Cask was temporarily off. The bar was quiet. "Ting" - was that a pin I heard dropping? Food served. Service was pretty slow. Accomodation. Situated on Shropshire Street. Tel - 01630 652646  Visited Apr 2003
