Brilliant news from Bishops Castle. The future of the Three Tuns Brewery looks to have been secured following
the purchase of the brewery by retired solicitor Bill Bainbridge. Bill plans to
invest in the brewery and production could re-start as early as April 2003 under the name
John Roberts Brewing Co. Pubsurvey wishes Bill well in his new venture.

The Bridgnorth Real Ale
Festival was held at the Railwaymans Arms at the Severn Valley Railway - but the souvenir
glasses were all gone by the time we arrived.

Britains leading trading standards officer has
slammed government plans to introduce a legal 95% pint. Chris Howell has called for a
return to a full pint measure - otherwise drinkers are going to get ripped off.
The Three Tuns in Bishops Castle has had planning consert turned down following
their attempt to convert the Victorian Brewery Tower into accommodation.

the cheapest and most expensive pints in Shropshire. Due to lack of
feedback from readers the results are too sketchy to

The Budget has some good news for small brewers
- with a reduction of 14 pence duty for each pint brewed. It's not certain how much of
this will be passed on to drinkers
However, sad news from the
Trade Secretary, Patricia Hewitt, who is proposing to legalise short measures. New laws
will define a pint as "not less than 95% liquid" and there will be no legal
right for landlords to give a top-up.
