Readers comments - Found this pub by accident and I'm glad I did, real real ale served, a fantastic atmosphere in a nice friendly pub and a good ole game of darts, I loved it - Apr 2008

The Dolphin

Freehouse. New owners in 2006. Now with two rooms and the William Morris wallpaper has been replaced by an altogether lighter shade. Moody lighting and a gas flame fire add to the ambience. Pub has it's own microbrewery with plans to launch new brews in the future. The Ollie Dog is named after the friendly pub dog. Free from music. Coffee served. Food served. Good choice of real ale and it's all well kept. Situated on St. Michaels Street. Parking can be a bit of a problem - a fact not gone un-noticed by the owners who have an amusing sign outside. Tel - 01743 350419. Visited Aug 2008

The Dolphin was taken over a few months ago and is now well worth a visit. The micro brewery is running and they've always got an excellent selection of real ales. They also serve good food at a very reasonable price. I thoroughly recommend it. Clare - Oct 2006

Dun Cow

Ex-Mad O'Rourke's pub that used to be famous for its pies - now specialising in ostrich and wild boar steaks. Also gone are the Ushers beers. The pub sign depicts a cow that seems to be having a good laugh. Monday quiz night. Situated on Abbey Foregate. Tel - 01743 356408. Visited Aug 2008

Exchange

Old pub but inside has been faked. Very tall brass dispensers for the keg cider and lager. Young persons pub at weekends when there are bouncers on the door. Tetley Bitter was a miserable excuse for a real ale being bland and tasteless. Situated on Bellstone. Tel - 01743 362481. Visited Feb 2001
