Popular back street local with a car park at the front and a beer garden at the back overlooking the bowling green. Regular guest bitters. Collection of brasses on the beams and a friendly welcome. Steak & Ale pub. Comfortable eating pub with the usual sort of menu, but dominated by steaks. Beer served too cold - and it was a choice of just Tetley Bitter. Open all day and handy for the livestock market situated on Battlefield Road. There is a pool table and large car park. Tel - 01743 443291. Visited Apr 2008
